0:14 so basically: 1) There's like 100's of different types of plastics, so some plastics can hold some liquids (acids, bleach, hydrogen peroxide etc.) fine, while others dissolve in like seconds when they come in to contact with them. 2) Different chemicals (in this case, acids) react differently with different materials. For example, one acid might be able to melt some metals, while another can destroy wood and paper and other organic stuff, so they're useful for different applications. So to answer your question Aussie Dan, the acid and the plastic don't react with each other, but the acid can react with other stuff (wood, glue, metal etc.) perfectly fine.

Muriatic acid is Hydrochloric acid. It's similar to your stomach acid, except it is a different concentration and often has very toxic impurities. (Do not drink it.) Wood is mostly made up of cellulose, a special kind of sugar chain. This sugar chain is very chemically resistant to hydrochloric acid, and does not break down in our stomach either. When people talk about eating fiber, cellulose is one major type of fiber. It passes straight through you - ironically wiped away with more cellulose (toilet paper). The glue holding a skateboard together is usually chemically inert and is often waterproof. It can however, be dissolved, like with nail polish remover (acetone). This is a lot like dissolving salt in water. The acid cannot dissolve this glue. Hydrochloric acid doesn't generally dissolve things, it chemically reacts with them. The byproducts then dissolve into the water that carries the hydrochloric acid. The metal trucks (I'm assuming aluminum) chemically reacted with the acid. Honestly, the base plates were probably gone after 30 minutes. The hardware are steel (iron). They take much longer to react. The dissolved iron is what turned the bath green. Dissolved aluminum chloride is clear.

For safety purposes you definitely should have some kind of eye wash available when messing with muriatic acid. Also, to neutralize it, make a mix of baking soda and water. I woulda recommended that before you threw the trucks etc. back on.

Ok so I've been skateboarding for like 1.5 Years now and I think I'm pretty comfortable on my board. I skate goofy but there's something wrong. I wanna move on to doing tricks so I bought SMS vol 1. And I followed the steps for the Ollie but I couldn't do the Ollie for some reason. It felt like I was stepping on my board for the first time. Then I tried the Ollie in regular stance. And I could do it much better. And I learned the Ollie stationary. But that's the problem. I can't skate in regular but I can ONLY do tricks in regular. I can skate goofy PERFECTLY but I can't do tricks in goofy. I'm really confused, and if anyone can help me it would be awesome. Thanks for reading this! Have a nice day, Peace!

They sped up over the “muriatic acid” part... aka a dilute hydrochloric acid. 1:17 I predict, if it gets through the paint on the trucks it will eat them, the bearings, and hardware. Also, it shouldn’t dissolve any cellulose (wood); for the same reason we don’t digest corn.

The muriatic acid cannot dissolve through certain plastics. The bottle is made from HDPE (High Density PolyEthylene) which is a barrier plastic that is relatively non porous thus preventing the muriatic acid from leaking. It's also a relatively weak acid, other acids or stronger concentrates sometimes come in glass bottles. The storage tote you used to soak the board in is made of nylon which can be dissolved by muriatic acid so be careful.

yo if you wanna fix ur slippery floor, mix some muriatic acid with warm water, mop floor in small sections, use deck broom to scrub lightly, then wash off with reg warm water.. i did it in my park every few months it works wonders...
