The process and description of the procedure outlined here was exactly what I went through prior to, during, and after my procedure. I appreciate the accuracy! I've been seizure-free for over 3 years now!

Surgery is scary and should be the last resort. I have met people with epilepsy where surgery was a lifesaver and greatly improved their quality of life. Some showed some improvement, but still had to be on medication. If surgery is something your doctor has suggested, make sure to learn about what the surgery is and the risks of having it. You had the hippocampus and amygdala removed in the right temporal lobe. How did you feel a month after the operation? How long did your feelings of sadness, anxiety, and depression last and when did they disappear? Are you taking epilepsy medications now?

I myself have not had the procedure, but one of our board members did. He has been seizure-free for over three years now and is doing great.

@@nature-it5wy My friend was anxious after his operation just because he wanted his seizures to be controlled. He didn't feel sad, he was actually relieved that he finally had it. He never expressed feeling depressed afterwards. Everyone is different though.
