We've been listening to lots of feedback and have now created a version that is painted with an interior trim color matched satin silver and produced as a Plastic Injection Molded face plate.
MK2 provides additional design updates complete with a sturdy magnetic face plate that allows for easy access to the tablet installed in your dashboard.

Not yet, we are working through the power management aspect of USB-C that is used for those tablets. The 2016 version has pretty much identical specs to the 2019 version

I have an 07 350z and I was wondering if my steering wheel volume controls could some how link to the tablet allowing me to raise the volume and down at will rather than using the gestures. and another questions is apple carplay buggy still or is it fixed. I currently use an iPhone and I want the best and most quality experience I can get, please let me know.

Hey guys, got my order in for my 350z and working on the install. Question is any tips on how you went about painting it? I have a few ideas lined up but wanted to ask how you went about it. I plan to paint it silver like the one on your site. Thanks!

For my plastics I used some 180 or 200 grit sandpaper to get the printed surface smooth. Then I coated everything with a scratch filler primer. Sanded it lightly again with some 800 grit and then sprayed my color of choice.

I believe there are some USB options where you can utilise a backup camera. I personally haven't tried it but have seen other Android tablet integrations that have made it work.

Hi I am wanting to buy this for my nissan 350z but both my 12v cigarette port is not working can someone please tell me which fuse box is it located in and which fuse is it?(what the fuse number?) Brainiac please help I want this setup but I need to get my 13v cigarette port to work

For multimedia it is whatever apps you have installed on your tablet. Right now we don't have an FM radio accessory but are experimenting with some. Details on a kit can be found here: workshoptwelve.com/nissan-350z/

1. Yes you can purchase a Apple car play dongle and connect it to the usb hub. 2 The sound will come out the car speakers but unless you have an apple car play dongle or the Mk2 electronics by kenwood you can only control the music through the tablet. 3.Yes it is possible to hook up a reverse camera

You use a headphone jack to RCA cable to plug the audio into an amplifier for your speakers.

We have our Electronic kit that provides charge, audio and USB accessory. Our MK2 version front face plate is removable for easy access to the tablet. You can connect to ODBII via USB ore Bluetooth using a dongle

If you have a 350z equipped with OEM navigation you will need a non-Navigation center waterfall trim (the one that holds the 3 gauges). The navigation trim has a little bump out at the top that isn't compatible with our plastics

It will do everything that a tablet will do. If you have a tablet that has an FM chip in it then it can work as a radio.

Our Electronics charge the tablet while driving and the tablet goes to sleep when the car turns off. Our MK2 plastics are now plastic injection molded and painted. They are also magnetically connected for easy access to the tablet 👍 workshoptwelve.com/nissan-350z/

Correct. I typically use an app like All In One Gestures so that all of the physical keys are mapped to screen gestures. Little buttons are hard to press when driving.

$108 for the plastic face plate and $120 for the plastic holder? Can you sell them together as a bundle for a discount? Don't see why the parts are sold separately. Great idea and I would definitely consider something like this for my z if it was under $200.

Hi there, the parts are sold separately as it is a partner plastic printing company that prints each of the plastics directly for you. Workshop 12 doesn't actually manufacture the plastics, we just upload our models to Shapeways :)

if you leave the car to sit for a prolonged period of time the battery can drain to zero. When that happens unfortunately you’ll have to get access to the physical power button to turn the device back on so that it can start charging again from the power from the car. I’ll be writing some follow-up articles on how you can deal navigation of the tablet when the home, app-switcher and back buttons are covered by a bezel like the one from Brainiac as well as how you can wire the tablet into your car for both power and audio.. any update on this?

@@yogipower1598 if that happens, then you can pop up the shifter trim and reach under the plastic to press the power button. It is located in the lower left hand side and is exposed in our tablet holder behind the dash.

You will need the non-navigation waterfall.. There is a ridge at the top of the Navigation dashboard that won't fit with the plastics.

The most updated tablet is the S6 lite, the galaxy tab A and Lenovo tablets are fairly similar. However if you want a true android tablet the Lenovo is your best option

Everything turns into add on modules off a usb hub, so you can get every feature back in the car, step by step. Definitely not a weekend job of swapping in a headunit like back in the day, but end result looks awesome.

lanesteele240 typically you would run the RCA out to a 4 channel amp and most 4 channel amps have an output to then go to the second amp for the sub. Essentially the same way you would with a head unit and separate amps

If you download skype, set a mobile hotspot on your phone, or install a simcard into you tablet for data, it will be able to work as you intend. You will need to purchase subscriptions from skype, but you can use their service to call phone numbers, and for others to call your phone number and it link to skype. It just uses data.

We get asked every now and again for iPad. They just don't work that well when in a car. No accessories, no customization, small touch targets when driving, power management, Bluetooth limitations etc.. it was really meant to be held in your hands. Android allows for more tweaks to create more of an in car experience.

That's the price for quality 3D printing. We haven't been able to find any printing service that can offer the same quality at a lower price

@@SrgntPickles looked at a whole bunch of different options. The intracacy of the clips and fitment doesn't warrant well to a 3D printed mold with Resin (which also becomes very labor intensive). This may be acceptable from a one off or DIY perspective, but everyone has OEM quality and fit expectations. The quality and accuracy of the plastics needed point to SLS 3D printing or pure injection molding (huge $$ in mold costs).
