I review, breakdown and explain The Watchers. I discuss the 2024 movie which is directed by Ishana Night Shyamalan starring Dakota Fanning. I react to the ending, compare the book to the movie and also analyse the fairies and changeling creatures that were in the forrest.

No shade to anyone who worked hard on this movie, but for anyone who was disappointed in the film, the book by A.M. Shine is MUCH better. In fact, "Stay In The Light", the sequel to A.M. Shine's book "The Watchers" is coming out in October! Please give it a chance, as "The Watchers" is a PHENOMENAL book.

I just saw this yesterday as well and I really enjoyed the third act too. I thought it was just going to be them trying to escape at the end and that would be the end of the movie. I really enjoyed the fairy/changling folklore and mythology in the third act, I was curious to see what Ishana Shyamalan had in store for us in her theatrical directing debut and I enjoyed the story and the movie. She did an awesome job, great first movie and I can’t wait to see what else she has in store for us. ❤😊❤

Don't turn your back to the glass: They can't see your face, thus they cannot mimic you. Don't go near the burrows: Death? They lived down there, so going in kept you out of the light. You'd die. Opening the door after sunset: Same as above. You are out of the light, thus you will die. The rules were there to keep them "safe". Mina broke the rules because she was at a point in her life where she didn't care or was very brave, but she was extremely curious as well and wanted to know what the hell was going on. She wanted to leave too, so she broke the rules to figure it out. If she hadn't broken them, they would all be there still and they would have never found the hatch to the bunker below. I really enjoyed it. The ending when Madeline was in the house before the one character came home was surprising. I knew something was up with Madeline and I assumed she was one of them. I figured she was there to give them rules, so they would stay and the Watchers could observe them until the end. I thought she was in on it the whole time. Super fun movie in my opinion. Good to see Dakota Fanning back on screen.

I knew it was Madeline, they gave it out the second day when Mina tells Danny “you believe everything Madeline tells you” . “Help me with the rope”. After he helps Mina and they get back in the coup right away Madeline knows everything Mina did and questions what Mina saw (how would Madeline know Mina saw something) .

Not great. Solid idea squandered in typical Shyamalan fashion. Twists pretty much revealed the second there was any set up and really insulted the audience moving into the third act. I'd recommend bc it was done fine, but if you've seen a lot of horror movies, this is a wasted opportunity with no surprises.

"The Watchers" is the debut feature of Ishana Night Shyamalan, daughter of director M. Night Shyamalan who is one of the film's producers. Ishana herself wrote the script based on the novel of the same name by A. M. Shine, achieving an interesting story that revolves around folk horror and a dark fairy tale, in addition to doing a great job as a director. The cast gives good performances, Dakota Fanning performs a magnificent role, Georgina Campbell plays a tender role with mastery and Olwen Fouéré demonstrates once again her histrionic ability and her Scream Queen skills. The cinematography work is top-notch, managing to capture a gloomy atmosphere in the filming locations. The soundtrack composed of traditional Irish bagpipes is effective for the story. "The Watchers" is a great film that plays with horror and fantasy.

I like the fact that one of the watchers what's the old lady inside with them... I like the fact that they have the professor who was studying the watchers for a long time in his bunker... I like the fact that the professor tried to bring back by using one of the watchers as a substitute to his wife and I like the fact that they have the watchers were result of fairies in humans having babies in as a result they had to put that in the ground to keep them trap in stone cave.. I actually love the ending of the movie where the watcher was always watching and can change her form to anyone and was always watching.. I give the movie at 8 out of 10 I really enjoyed it

@@lorrainewallis9560in relation to Us by Peele, the stories are way too different in my opinion. Yeah they’re about doppelgängers, but The Watchers feels like a human story with a doppelgänger/mythological history, and Us feels primarily like a classic Doppelgänger story. Didn't she just do a film adaptation of a book that already existed? I don't know, for me that doesn't require as much criticism because it requires a little less creative input (at least where the story is concerned) I feel like if people dislike the ending, they should mostly take it up with the book's author (considering they're identical)

In the end, the ghost changing the faces was looked childish. I watched the movie in theater because of Shyamlan brand. Some scenes from this movie looked like Shyamlan's other movies The Village, Signs etc. Nothing great about this movie as the story is very weak.

come on, they are not fairies but the WATCHER ANGELS! They call them fairies in the film, but there are many parts in the film that clearly refer to angels. of course Hollywood doesn't like it when the plot revolves around angels and God's existence. (SPOILER) for example, these creatures corrupted humanity, but it is always said that they only made people strong... they mated with human women and fathered giants. GOD instructed his archangels to punish the WATCHERs of heaven very severely by crushing them forever deep in the earth under rocks and stones and no longer being able to see the light. twist the truth a little and it works... there is supposed to be a book about this film. if the book describes the plot of the film like this, the author has based it on the story of the WATCHERs and changed a few things

@@duvetboa These things happened long before Christianity. Whether Celtic mythology or Nordic, Greek or Egyptian or Hinduism... it doesn't matter, it all has something to do with it! The fallen angels pretended to be gods. Zeus, Osiris, Apollo, Ra, Horus, Seth, etc. and recreated the world according to their ideas. They were the founders of every mythology on this earth! The most powerful of these angels/demons founded the most famous of all mythologies, such as Egyptian or Greek, for example. Hinduism has the majority of all fallen angels, namely over 30 million. There were 33 million in total. The fundamental truth of this world is that God the Creator created everything and his son is Jesus Christ. Yes, what is written in the Bible is the only truth.

This cements my gut instinct to NEVER watch anything from the M & Ishana Night Shyamalan movie legacy. M. Night isn't as good as is first flm anymore, and it seems like the daughter will carry on the tradition of overhyped mediocre films. Smh.
