It's so sad to see Keith slurring his words. This was from the last 2 years of his life, when he knew his problems with his dystonia in his right hand were getting worse. I love you, Keith, and I hope to see you again in another life. I'm so glad I got to see you so many times (25+) from 1977 up until 2014 for the celebration of your 70th birthday in Long Island, NY (Oct. 2014). You will always be my hero, Mr. Emerson!

"... a decomposing composer..." Brilliant! That tells you how the Maestro was really an anti-star, but that was clear from his book, real fun and a fresco on a legendary era. Also great to remember Bob Moog. The 2 created an incredible sinergy whose sounds are still awesome after 50years of advanced 57:10 technology. Fortunately I managed to see Keith with LP in '92 and he, they, were still in superb shape. Thanks Maestro to have been the soundtrack of my life. In the down moments I knew I could rely on listening to Fanfare, Toccata, Pictures, Toccata, to start over again. Thank you for your art. Ars longa vita brevis. Unfortunately.

A nice interview with a cheerful Keith :-) I was born too late to experience ELP in their years of glory but I saw Keith, Greg and Carl on stage in 1992 and 1997. @@iamavl Absolutely! When I first listened to the "Black Moon" album something in 1992 at the age of 14 I realized I HAD to go further and explore the kingdom of prog rock. The Nice followed, then King Crimson (apart from the 1969 debut the years with John Wetton are also splendid) and of course Yes (btw Rick Wakeman is great but we should not disregard the great job Patrick Moraz did on "Realyer")... And here we are today :-))

At their concert in Houston in the early 70's I remember Keith standing on an upright piano and walking it up and down the stage by rocking it back and forth simultaneously chugging a bottle of Southern Comfort ( I think). Of course the music was phenomenal but the optics of that piano walking feat was amazing . Did anyone else ever see him do that ? I've tried to find it on a video but haven't been able to yet.

bear in mind he's over 70, and had several chronic health problems, including heart disease and depression linked to alcohol use. Not many people get through the sort of life he had without paying a price. Nearly 50 years after 'discovering' his music, I still rate him as perhaps the most creative/innovative of modern keyboard players

I agree. I think Keith was a heavy drinker. He reminds me exactly any of the numerous drunk chats I've witness at party endings in my family as a child. Also his depression over his right hand muscles & nerves degradation must have been so difficult to cope with when sober . . . Many iconic artists had much anxiety and demons and I can totally understand the kind of state of mind he must have been in at that point in his giant and beautiful career. R.I.P. Mr Emerson.

I thought this - but Keith was on anti-depression tablets. I personally have had to have force teeth and it is very depressing getting use to them. Keith’s life was a ‘Performer’ and would have hated this and maybe took a couple more tab’s than he should have - poor guy. l have been a fan all my life. And strangely he is now buried less than a mile up the road from where l live, which is odd.

Sad that Emerson did himself in when he did. I suppose he just couldn't handle growing old but at 71, when he died, there were still many things he could do right into his 80's as a matter of fact. Of course his fingers and his dexterity weren't going to be the same that they were when he was 25 but you learn to except that and work within your limitations. He still could have accomplished so much - writing, arranging even playing to the extent that he was able. Why did you do it, Keith? You did yourself and your fans a great disfavour. Everybody grows old. It's not something you have to run away from.

“His right hand and arm had given him problems for years. He had an operation a few years ago to take out a bad muscle but the pain and nerve issues in his right hand were getting worse,” she said. “He had concerts coming up in Japan and even though they hired a back-up keyboard player to support him, Keith was worried. He read all the criticism online and was a sensitive soul. Last year he played concerts and people posted mean comments such as, ‘I wish he would stop playing.’ He was tormented with worry that he wouldn’t be good enough. This is a real train wreck. Mr. Andre or whatever, needs to know how to do a real interview. Did you do any research? Do you know how to edit these audio fiascos of yours? If the subject is stoned or in "bad shape"... cancel. Oh yeah, and figure out how to assign your cheap mics correctly. You, just need a dope slap Brainstorm or whatever. How could you associate yourself with the fine Moog group... ? This is absolutely painful to watch. Really. Yes, this is coming from a fan of Mr. Emerson's.

Wow what a presumptuous douchebag! Andre and Keith were close friends for many, many years, that's why Andre brought him in for a casual conversation. Also, the mic's sound fine, your ears must be shit. There is Keith's mic, and Andre's, and they are "assigned" properly. Keith was totally sober, and we do not associate ourselves with Moog music. Keith was in town for Moogfest when this went down. Have a nice day, we hope to never hear from you again, you disrespectful tool.

Anybody who knows anything about Keith Emerson knows WHY there is a Moog water bottle there... Keith's main historic instrument was the monster... the ten foot tall Moog. Robert Moog worked in association with Keith Emerson in developing the instruments... he got them first. Keith was incredibly important in helping fine tune Moogs and in testing out new versions on tour. that's why there is a Moog water bottle there... and Keith deserves to be able to flaunt the name... he is partly responsible for Moog as it was.
