I’ve had this product now for about six months I’ve driven over 2800 miles and a 2000 Fleetwood American tradition 40 foot RV using this system and I’ve had it actually come on one time I started out with it setting just below medium the vehicle I’m towing is a 2006 Jeep grand Cherokee weighs 4288 pounds and I worked my way all the way up to high it’s come on one time recently like yesterday I came out of Phoenix going to Holbrook Arizona if you’ve ever travel that route you’ll know that it is extremely mountainous once you get outside Phoenix headed north and there are many six and 7% uphill climb and downhill grades some of them as long as 7 miles and this system set on high properly wired properly installed and properly set up never actuated one time my guess at this point is if the inertial sensor in the unit is malfunctioning and not working properly because when you start at the top of a 6% grade is 6 miles long and 15 miles an hour ended up at the bottom at 65 hoping to God there’s not another curve and your system never actuates to slow down the jeep you start to think maybe you wasted $1000. And all this system has actually functioned one time in over 3000 miles of driving. One thing that I noticed is missing from the video is cameras located in the vehicle and in the RV as he goes down the road and goes to slow down and show it actually functioning like it supposed to that was not in the video and I set my system up before I leave every single time hoping that one day it’s gonna work like it supposed to I was gonna tell you I sure could’ve used it yesterday in case you’re wondering I was an over the road truck driver for 31 years 12 that is an owner operator which means I own my own vehicle I’ve got over 3 1/2 million miles of safe driving I’ve driven on every interstate in this country and been through Colorado across the Rocky Mountains about 15 or 20 times up to the Sierra Nevada’s at least five or six times across the Appalachian Mountains carrying heavy loads all the way to gross some oversize loads so I know how to go up and come down the hill in a vehicle that’s probably the only thing that saved my life because if I had been counting on this product I’ve been at the bottom in a heap. What bothers me the most is not that it didn’t work for me because I made it OK cause I know what I’m doing what bothers me is everybody out there who’s never even driven a freaking U-Haul that will go out and buy a 40 foot coach and put the system in their vehicle and think they’re good to go and run off the top of that hill too fast and it’ll be their last these systems have to work every time like they’re supposed to do you’re not protecting me you’re protecting people that don’t know what they’re doing but in my experience like I said earlier mine has never function properly like it supposed to.

The fused red wire from the charger DEFINITELY goes to the auxiliary/RV and the black wire goes to the positive terminal on the towed vehicle's battery. I confirmed this with the HELP LINE for Brake Buddy 3 Classic's manufacturer.

You are correct. That is how we installed this kit. You can see it starting at the 16:00 mark. It looks confusing because we use a red extension wire to connect the black wire on the harness to get to the positive post on the vehicles battery. www.etrailer.com/Tow-Bar-Braking-Systems/Brake-Buddy/HM39494.html

Thanks, this video was so much better than the instructions that came with the break buddy.. we also have a 4 pin connector, and want to forgo the battery charger for now. Any idea how long it takes the brake buddy to drain the battery if it’s not being charged?

The amount of time that it takes to drain a battery will depend on the size of the battery, the size of the vehicle, and how often you are braking. It is for this reason that we recommend a battery charge line kit. You could have one trip where your battery didn't grain too much but then the next you did a lot of braking and your battery is dead. www.etrailer.com/Tow-Bar-Braking-Systems/Brake-Buddy/HM39494.html www.etrailer.com/Accessories-and-Parts/Brake-Buddy/BB54FR.html

Just so you know the instruction say to put the fused red wire to the RV/auxiliary not the black. Is that what you meant to say??

Great video, was moving the seat forward hard to do since the lever is at the same height as the Brake buddy??

We just reached under the side of the seat in order to move the seat the last few inches forward. www.etrailer.com/Tow-Bar-Braking-Systems/Brake-Buddy/HM39494.html
