Great video! I'm one of the 4 database curators for the deck. I tried the moonless build originally, but I ended up having the opposite assessment of you. The deck felt bad and after many changes it feels better with stax to me. But hey, I love different assessments and play styles! I'm glad the staxless build is working for you. I want to throw a great combo your way, especially being a more proactive list. You should definitely consider running Brain Freeze for Underworld Breach/LED lines. It lets you put your deck into the graveyard and loop LED to cast Silence/Curiosity/Ghostly Pilferer from yard, then just cast a Timetwister from the yard and go off will Brallin loops. It is a really aggressive like, and is surprisingly fast/consistent. Alternatively you can just Freeze everyone's deck away and have them die to draw, but I just find the Brallin way to be more fun :) I honestly think every list should run this combo, no matter if it's mutate, moonless, or full stax. It's too good and has been my primary line since it's implementation. Check out my primer for the full description of how effectively Brain Freeze functions in the deck! www.moxfield.com/decks/mlH3OtuuCUaYY1GM_oKCnw Also, here is a link to the Shark Gang discord if anyone is interested! discord.gg/fdNGBdG

Thanks for the input! You're probably right. I had one or two bad experiences drawing brain freeze as a dead card, and cut it early on BUTTTT I think you're right in that the upside is just too high to not play it. Just checked your primer, seems great. You wouldn't happen to have a resource or the math on hand of the minimum amount of cards in your library vs max amount of cards in your opponents libraries to be able to mill them all out would you? Just in case you're forced to play it out.
@Christian-cy9sx

@@PlaytoWinMTG lengthy response warning.. I actually got the opportunity to play it out in a pod on Friday! I won turn 6 with it. The math theory checked out in game. Let's assume best case senario. intuition on t2 to set it up, and go for the line turn 3 (after keeping a 7 card opener.) You've seen 13 cards thus far, minimum. 85 cards left in library. I'll represent storm count as (sx) where x is count. And mana floating as (Ux, Wx, Rx) respectively. 1. Cast breach, exile 3 for LED. Discard hand for 3 blue. 2 blue and exile 3 for freeze (s3) mill 12. 2. Exile 3, cast LED. Crack for 3 blue, use 2 and exile 3 for freeze (s5, u2) mill 18. 3. Repeat step 2 (s7, u3) mill 24 4. Repeat step 2 again (s9, u4) mill 30. So now you have exiled 30 cards and have 55 in yard. You can loop LED and freeze from here to mill opponents out. (Total of 24 cards are needed for exile. This will mill a total of 306 cards from opponents) Also, you can: Exile 3 for LED, crack for 3 white to cast silence (if needed, I usually do the moment I mill it). Exile 3, cast LED. Crack for 3 red to cast brallin (If needed). Use 2u (u4, w1) and exile 3 to cast ghostly, exile 3 and cast curiosity. Exile 3 for LED, crack for 3u (5u) cast twister. (2u) You have a discard outlet and 37 in library. If that's not enough cards after going through the deck you can exile 6 more for LED and Twister to loop it again. I like this option just cause it's more fun and wins off Brallin, though it's unnecessary. If brallin is draked or anything you have access to you deck, so just bounce him. I took freeze out briefly for similar reasons, and decided to get back on it and haven't looked back! There's also a super niche line of freezing yourself on top of a counter war to mill curiosity if you have breach/sevinne's in hand or want to put sevinne/curiosity in the yard. ***edit*** Someone in the discord just did the math and this combo works with lotus petal too. For budget reasons. You will exile 72 cards to freeze everyone out. They're also making a table for the LED line. They will both be pinned in the Competitive channel on the discord if you care to look!

Great video, great editing, great enthusiasm as always! One suggestion: I got the feeling that I was able to understand your points and how the deck works because I have been playing it myself, maybe you could include a little more explanation on how things work (rullings, interactions etc.) on some future deck techs. (For example, explaining how tandem lookout being a may ability is worse needed a bit more time, or how the 8-card discard actually works for those who don’t really know about these guys or Niv Mizzet). Great content, keep it up!

I think a very passable budget version of this deck can be made. Both commanders, Glinthorn, and the 3 curiousity effects could all be picked up for less the $5 total. From there, the deck is yours. Obviously, it has to be slower, but I think even one that presents a consistent turn 5 or 6 win could be made for less than $150.

Have you thought about the new teferi, master of time for this deck? He helps combo decks cycle through a ton of cards to find their win, but he also procs both commander abilities with his +1, and he also doubles as removal. Also this deck seems like it’d be exceptionally good at preventing him from being attacked down. If you’ve tried him and didn’t like him, or you just haven’t really considered him yet - either way I’m interested to hear your thoughts on it!

@AresOMegas

My evaluation of building shabraz (as well the one of most of the guys in the discord server) is that we can’t really race consult decks efficiently since we are a turn slower most of the time (reaching to 8 cards is unexpectedly hard to do in a single turn alongside your winning cards, or if you have a discard outlet you need a 3-card combo). Imo, if your meta is consult heavy, I would go for a stax version, as the commanders can do it really effectively (huge beatsticks under stax provide another angle of attack). Slower builds allow you to reach back up to 8 cards with card advantage engines while being able to control the board through stax and counter magic. In the end of the day, test out and find the conclusion that works best for you!
@Agumon2509
@Agumon2509 4 жыл бұрын
AresOMegas yeah every deck in my meta is a consult deck lol currently I play Thrasios/Smasher as a bit of anti meta but losing turn 2 to consult sucks or getting out valued with tasigur kinda sucks haha but yeah, I agree with not trying to out speed but slow the game down! I still wanna try this deck out! Looks super fun

Echo of Eons works wonders, you can cast it for the timetwister cost out of the graveyard, so it’s a great card to discard

Speaking of Cedh database, why tf did Jhoira the weatherlight captain get delisted?
@xSwitchB1ade

Because she didn't meet the minimum power requirement to be in the database

@@xSwitchB1ade I don't think you know what you are talking about. She was there and then was dropped. Her power level is ridiculous... waaaay better than Teshar or Heliod. So,..?

@@iAMtunaFISH I was literally talking to cinestra when he was looking for feedback on which commanders to remove. I agree with you about heliod but hey, they want at least one deck of each color combo and he's the mono white one.

@@xSwitchB1ade it's kinda bs. Because with that logic they might as well remove all UBx decks since they all Thassa's Consult.

@@iAMtunaFISH They're all different decks that attack from different angles. We think Jhoira isn't up to scratch and consistently loses games to top tier pods without much if any resistance. If you think differently, come play on the discords and show Maynard, David and Cinestra that they're wrong.
