A BRAND NEW 2021 Skoda Octavia VRS Demo Car, along with one of the also New Gen BMW 3 Series Traffic / Roads Policing Cars from South Wales Police are seen responding with blue lights and sirens in Cardiff after blocking off the A48 for a major incident.
Huge thank you too the very friendly officers for allowing me to photograph the vehicles!
This compilation also features other Police Cars and an unmarked / undercover Armed Response Vehicle from South Wales Police and Gwent Police, A Dog Unit from the British Transport Police, and Welsh Ambulances Responding.

My local Bobbies used Mk3 Fiestas as beat cars and Mk3 Escorts for Area cars, both type fitted with just a single rotary roof beacon. In the late 1990s they started using a fleet of Proton Wiras' and Impians'... They had upgraded the lighting to a double rotary light bar, but good grief they looked (and by all accounts drove) absolutely shocking...

The black bonnet is to try and stop the lights reflecting off of the bonnet at night

It serves little purpose. Initially is was brought about to prevent dazzling the driver and passenger at night, but that's only applicable to vehicles with dash lights. Very few have them, and in fact none recently that I've seen with a black wrap on the bonnet.

We don't get them here in the US sadly. We use Ford Explorer interceptors, Chevy caprice PPV, Ford Taurus interceptors, Chevy Tahoe PPV, Dodge charger pursuits, and Ford crown Victoria. Crown vic is still in service btw:)

Fun fact - the sporty Skodas are called RS everywhere but the UK, where it's VRS. The badge is the same but the retail name is different by that V.

@@WASTdave The lads at the office keep telling me to take it out on a track day at a local airfield which has a meet-up every couple of weeks, but knowing my luck I'll probably still bottle it despite having my RRV ticket and a member of the IAM! I don't mind throwing a Scout, CRV or a DCA around at work, but when it's my own pride and joy I'm suddenly Driving Miss Daisy! I'm nearly 40 though, so that's my excuse 😂

Really? I’m pretty sure there’s a no badge option when ordering too. I’d assume it’s a bugger to wrap the reflective around the text compared to the actual logo badge. Personally not a fan of the text badging at the rear of Skoda’s now.

@@Mike_5 gotcha, very interesting actually! My mates dad used to own a Skoda dealership so ended up in many pre 2015 Skoda police cars and never knew that. They’d deck them out then deliver to them for some final bits and pieces. The first Gen Superb was a particularly nice one, I got a run home in that one which was cool. We arrived at the same time my neighbours full family came out 😂 they thought I’d been up to something until my mates dad stepped out. Cheers for the info.

Red is specifically used on lightbars when stopped to show that there is an obstruction (a police car) or to signify a lane closure. Therefore as red has a purpose it won’t be used for anything else on a light bar.

I’m respectfully going to suggest that the Skoda is the Superb 4x4, 2.0tsi, 290 bhp... The vRS Octavia has a very distinctive spoiler on the boot, the car in this had a lip spoiler...

Police responding to a major road traffic incident, closing off a road and only allowing emergency vehicles to enter, officer clearly instructs the Mercedes driver not to continue. Idiot assumes its closed off exclusively for his high performance German car and just keeps driving, when you drive in the UK, your never far away from a first class dipstick! Hardly a high performance vehicle is it. It’s a boggo C-class. Just because it’s german doesn’t mean it’s anything special 🙄 Clearly the road has been closed and the ambulance is driving to the scene. So no relatives in the back. Police officer also didn’t jump in the BMW and pull him over either so obviously they were happy once he shouted out the window. I’m guessing off duty doctor/paramedic or some form of senior personnel from one of the services.

@@staffsemergresp I’d say it’s unusual as normally the officers or doctors who go on scene will still have blue lights for their personal cars but certainly not unheard of. Like I say they would have chased him and pulled him if he’d jumped the roadblock.

Why not? Dogs are as important to BTP as Home Office forces, if not more. Search dogs (for weapons detection in stations and trains) and GP dogs are ideal for trackside searches and public order. You'd expect to see police dogs at airports, on trains and at stations is no different.

3:40 typical mercedes privilage thinks they own the road. He wasnt supposed to go thru there. Everytime I see any Skoda even the old ones I always think its an unmarked car.
