Interesting video, though I was hoping you'd get into the tractor more! Diesel/electric sounds like the technology that powers train locomotives! If so, it could be quite a break through! Hope you do more on the tractor after you've run it for a bit!!

This opens up a lot of possibilities. Running electric carts and planters vs hydraulic would be super efficient. Possibility of having manure tanks with drive axles and grain carts with driven tracks is possible. Not sure why there isn’t a convertible manure tank/grain cart out there. As ballast is such a common thing it would be possible to have significant batteries as ballast to smooth out power delivery and reduce diesel consumption. You could even have the tractor on Grid Tie standby during offseason peak power demand as networked virtual power plants to make revenue when its not being used. Interesting times. Partially electrifying combines must be in development, get rid of the belts, chains and hydrostatic drives.

I've always wondered about doing a diesel-electric drive in agriculture equipment. Railroad locomotives have been doing it for 50+ years mostly because the torque and power they operate at would make any mechanical transmission ludicrously big.

Total for both (before taxes) is under 900 H, as the tractor runs between 650-700 H w/ the VT 150-200 H. 🤔
