Getting really sick of idiots complaining that this isnt a talent. I'd like to see any one of them get up there and do it. This young man is amazing. People go see spoken word at smaller venues all the time so I don't see why it wouldnt work on a larger stage. I guarantee you the people that are complaining about this are those that just dont like hearing about the issues in our country right now and want to pretend like they dont exist.

@@ayeaye2110 I'm a fan of all the acts that are left with Alan Silva being my favorite. Next I have Brandon and Roberta. Next I would have Broken roots and Malik who should have went in over Archie. Archie could bounce back in the next round though. I really feel for what happened to him and even if he wasnt the best how could i get mad at him getting the money they the government should have paid him for losing 37 years of his life for no reason. Brandon is so amazing and what he is doing is so important right now. I'm just happy he made it this far. Broken roots did an excellent job on their U2 cover and that was really unexpected for me. If I have to go with the most captivating act though its Alan Silva. He is so unique and I could really see him in Vegas tearing it up. At the end of the day whoever delivers the best performance in the finals is who should win regardless of color or background.

@@davidfino332 @Leigh Davis; Your advice is good about staying strong and without any self-blame. Also using the imagination of a hug from his father though distant currently, is very helpful, especially the more real the it can be imagined. As for the attitude, there are some improvements. We do not know the aspects which led to the separation or reason for lack of contact. We can choose Our attitude, not with arrogance [as shown in the poem presentation, or suggested], but an open accepting desire. Sometimes closing eyes speaking with Your father, while alone, as if he is in front of You, telling him how much You miss him, want him to have contact with You , miss his warm embrace, hug, etc. There can be amazing results, especially if You can imagine speaking from Your Soul to his Soul. have results with this in my own life with my children who were separated from me, without contact. Then, now have five of six, with one when We see each other, rarely, We can communicate, though have not yet had private time. It may take many days or weeks or months or more to achieve. Sincerely

Speech less. Wow. Inspirational to pursue my gifts. This should help others with absentee fathers to heal. I can totally relate to an absentee father even tho mine physically was around, peripherally. 😢. I finally discovered that he has little to him, he can't share of himself. Also, congratulations on getting married! 🤗

I am also a big fan of yours Brandon.... words emit our sadness as much as it emit our happiness... they paint our needs and for that, we should be all thankful for a good poet that delivers the right ray to the right darkness.... I really really really wish you to win this...

Brandon is the kind of man that gives you a reason to keep on keeping on,, and to put your life's silent words on paper to become the spoken word to someone's heart, thus the reason why I have enjoyed writting since I was 14, and I am 58,and to listen to him shows me the reason why I still enjoy writting the spoken word, THAT YOUNG MAN WILL GIVE PEACE TO THOSE THAT HAVE NONE,STRENGTH TO THOSE THAT ARE WEEK,AND A HOPE TO THOSE WHOM THINK ALL IS LOST, HE IS AN AMAZING YOUNG MAN, NEVER GIVE UP,NEVER STOP SPEAKING THE SPOKEN WORD.

Well written, well said from one poet to another. I've been writing over 10 years now. Started writing when I was in the combat zone in Iraq. I think its the most therapeutic thing for me. As I share with friends and open mic venues, I can see how helpful it is. Thanks for sharing

Brandon is amazing! This one really got to me because I still dont know who my biological father is. And I always wondered why he didn't want me. But now I'll never find out why because he's dead.

So beautiful and truly an artists with his words. Spoken word isn’t easy to do and usually makes me cringe. But the way he uses his words, expression, and puts his all into his work, you can feel the raw emotion. I’m so happy he won!

This is so powerful. My husband ghosted me and our son for another woman and her family. My son doesn't even call his own father Daddy anymore. He refers to his father as "him" or "he" which is so sad. This was such a powerful peace and made me cry because this is exactly what my son and I are going through

Wow, this is... a brilliant act, more than just a story you feel it and then drown in it, he wrote a letter at 5 with all his innocents and hope, at 10 he started to wonder about himself and people around him, "maybe that's why my reflection is so unfamiliar sometimes" his mom kept reminding him through himself of an existance and a figure that he never seen before, a child that realizing something is missing in his life. Then time passed at his teenage life, all of things that dwelled inside him turned into anger and a blazing fire of hate, 16 years of struggle for hope and went through identity crisis. At 25, the acceptance, growing up alot and matured enough, started to forgiving and let go all of it except for a small thing which is a hope and love deep inside his heart for his missing father figure. And then the twist, the courage, all of it was never spoken, it happened only on his mind which later poured into his letters that he never sent.
