The action from a new for this year 'Super Touring Power' event at Brands Hatch, which was to showcase racing and demonstrations from Touring Cars of the late 90's and early 2000's. With one day on the GP Circuit and one day on the Indy circuit, it meant we were gifted with 2 qualifying sessions and 4 races from all of the championships on the Classic Touring Car Club roster (plus a few races from some guest championships), and I couldn't have been happier with that being the case... As per usual, the CTCRC presented us with massive varied grids all round and some of the best racing to go with it, this has to have been one of my favourite events so far this year! Along with the racing came a fair few incidents this weekend; a shed load of spins and slides with a few crashes dotted in between.
During the very last race of the weekend, which was for the Pre 66 cars, we unfortunately had a rather nasty side impacting shunt for one of the Hillman Imps which completely transformed the shape of the car - was really quite scary! The driver was dealt with by medical crews and marshals and to my understanding, thankfully only came away from the accident with some bruising. Such a shame to see two beautiful cars destroyed, but a great display as to why we should be so grateful for all the marshals and circuit crews, and a huge relief that everyone was more-or-less uninjured!
