Western European firefighters have water on a fire normally within 10 seconds of arriving. American firefighters take about 3 minutes just to set up hoses hydrants and everything before putting water on a fire. Thankfully that is starting to change with some American fire trucks starting to carry water with automatic real hoses like the Europeans. I compared a couple of vids a few months ago, 2 same size vehicle fires both of about same intensity when the fire trucks pulled up, one British the other American and seriously the British had the fire completely out, before the Americans even had water on the fire.
