You are correct but because NBC is so concerned with ratings rather than having stellar singers on the show, it would be difficult for Brandy or other black artists to bump Kelly or another singer on the show.

They really need to create a vocal coaching show with Brandy, Lalah Hathaway, Mariah (for those crystal clear high notes), Monica, STEVIE WONDER, Celine Dion, LeAnn Rimes, Kim Burrell, Yolanda Adams and the Clark sisters (couldn’t pick one). She is right about training the ear. This is one thing that lacks in a lot of singers. Gifted singers always continually study their craft.

Yesssssss. All I heard was her ad libs in "Apart." Like in her Full Moon era she would just go back to bck to back with adlibs that were just so perfectly placed, they'd be decorated with runs, they were interesting, and yes they did seem like their own song on top of the regular song.
