Smart way to plant the two types instead of planting one type per side of the trellis. Makes it harder for them to cross pollinate. Keep the seeds from the ends just to be sure.

Good video. I did see a little bloom end rot. You should add a little gypsum powder as an amendment when you plant them. This will add calcium without changing the soil PH and BER will not occur. Many blessings and good harvests to you sir.
@sportguy-live26

Why Epsom salt and why not bone meal and gypsum ? Looking at your grow plants it is hard to argue with how healthy your tomatoes are~!
@PepplesPotager
@PepplesPotager 3 ай бұрын
I've never used gypsum, but Jobes Tomato and Vegetables Fertilizer has bone meal in it. Epsom salt helps with magnesium deficiency and supposedly helps tomatoes taste better.

My mom mixed the San Marzano seeds with the 1884 tomato so we won't know till the harvest, between Brandywine potatoleaf and Cherokee purple which one do you like it more? And which is the most overall resistant? I'm looking to plant just one variety next year to avoid cross pollination.
@PepplesPotager
@PepplesPotager 3 жыл бұрын
I would say that Cherokee Purple is my favorite. I think Brandywine and Cherokee Purple are both equal in the disease resistance. I prefer the darker tomatoes. I will never stop growing Cherokee Purple Tomatoes. They truly are the best tasting in my opinion. Thanks for watching!

No need to worry about cross pollination unless your saving seeds. I do not make my own so I couldn't tell you whether its good for sauce or not. I know some people use them for salsa. We use them for salads and tomato sandwiches. We usually give any extras to friends or coworkers.

I noticed the leaves are also sorr of curled down. Is that normal for the potato leaf? I am growing yellow brandywines and each time a bew leaf emerges it is sort of curled up downwards.
@PepplesPotager
@PepplesPotager Жыл бұрын
If they curl up I think it's usually physiological leaf roll. I see it every year on a few of my tomato plants wether it's potato leaf or not. Probably do to environmental conditions in the soil. It is very common.
@PepplesPotager
@PepplesPotager Жыл бұрын
Curled down could mean low nutrients or some sort of viral or fungal disease.
@topquark35
@topquark35 Жыл бұрын
@@PepplesPotager hi. Yeah. I rhink that's it. It's not all the leaves too. Some leaves would come out rolled downward at the tips. Some don't. The ones that are curled.down sometimes stretch out normally abd some stay curled. Anyway, I saw some in yours are that way too. Thanks for the insight!
