Wow! I was trying to clean up my parents old brass lamps from the 60's and the brass in some areas looks gray, but it is brass. I use a magnet on it and didn't stick. Why would brass turn gray if it is real brass? I don't understand. I have cleaned other brass items, and they have become really shiny. I had used Bar keepers, and also Brasso, but nothing will work on brightening those areas, and I don't like it

I wish to understand the Green thing you rubbed with was it Sandpaper if yet rhen how many Grits or was it scotch Brite 😊

They are at dollar tree. Some have one side sponge other side green deal. It may work. ❤❤😊

Thank you for the video! I have a 1960's Loevsky & Loevsky lamp that I am hoping to restore. It has a lot of blue patina (blue rust?) that won't come off and fearful to use the wrong chemical.

Be careful. I restored a L&L assuming it was solid brass, but it was pewter with a brass overlay. So I essentially turned a brass tone lamp into a silver tone lamp. It still looks cool, and I learned a valuable lesson. lol
