Remember that Braun being champion wasn't the original plan. It was a last-minute decision, and they clearly were making it up on the fly. I personally don't think it was as bad as people say it was, but it was definitely not the best run

@@patrickkanas3874So? Cody being the one to end Roman's streak wasn't the initial plan (he wasn't even in the company when the streak was already a thing). Lesnar being the one to end Taker's Mania streak wasn't the plan until earlier that day, and he become the next monster of the company after what was initially (until that point) a miserable return to the company where he was fast losing stock. Things not being the initial plan doesn't mean they can't be turned into greatness, if worked right after you do get stuck with what you have. It doesn't mean you should just shove it under the rug like it never happened at all.

Prime Goldberg and This Goldberg is the same Goldberg. He always only had five moves. I don't understand everybody pretending like he was somehow better 20 years ago.
@Mr.Septon2 ай бұрын
I am not going to claim that Goldberg was ever all that skilled of an in-ring worker. Obviously, that is just not the case. Goldberg's star was almost purely because he had a great look and energy for the time, he couldn't work a mic to save his life and so only saying "who's next?" each week was perfectly working around his limitations, and working around his limitations I think is a critical factor in difference, but then there is age and the wear and tear on the body over time. Back in the 90's when WCW would debut Goldberg, was he limited and incredibly green, with barely any move set to work with? Of course. WCW did understand this and they worked hard to present him as a beast. Keep the matches short and simple. Have Goldberg immediately spear the guy, and then pick them up for a jackhammer. Then boom, it is over. His entrance usually took longer than his matches, but that was another thing too was how he would come out and everything. Obviously its all a work, but Goldberg when he came out felt truly impressive, even if limited. His speed and power were very much on display when he would take large guys and just effortlessly hold them above his head before the slam to the ground. His moves felt like they had impact, an impact that you felt from your seat. It isn't that Goldberg had more moves back in the day, or gained a skilled move set with time. The big difference is that as he aged, and don't get me wrong for his age he has still maintained being in incredible shape unlike most people at his age will ever experience but that momentum no longer felt there after a certain point. It stopped looking like people were hit by a truck and it stopped looking like an effortless task for Goldberg to hoist these massive guys clear over his head and hold them there. Instead of it looking like he was cleanly hoisting them, it started to show that not only did he really need a lot of effort out of the guy being jackhammered, but that he really was just trying to get them up and down as quickly as possible. There is also that when Goldberg originally had that streak, it was new and exciting and it came especially at a critical time as the nWo were running havoc on WCW and so having the human steamroller that was Goldberg, just like having a new immortal crow-version Sting for the nWo to run into like a brick wall. Goldberg wasn't great, but back in the day before it got out of hand, it was a great angle that knew how to present their limited beast.

Braun strowman could absolutely thrive as world champion under triple H he just needs a good character because i can absolutely believe that this big ass mf with massive ass muscles can be world champion.
@dish.washers3 ай бұрын
Yeah I agree, but he needs to work on the acting in his promos, imo. Yeah he sounds mean and aggressive, but idk if it's the way he delivers or overacting, but it sounds like he's just angrily saying a villian script without feeling natural, with overacted face gestures; just comes off corny sometimes. And I feel like that was a reason Braun was never pushed super far under Vince, and if he did have pushes, they were very short lived and always lost momentum. But yeah I enjoy Braun, but he just needs more convincing promos/line delivery imo
@Mr.Septon2 ай бұрын
@@dish.washers I agree that is probably where Braun needs the most improvement to truly be able to stand tall as a strong champion. He has the perfect build for championship material. As mentioned, seeing a guy as physically beastly as Braun winning, smashing through the roster, its incredibly believable. I think the issue is that, from what I can tell, in real life he is a big teddy bear of a guy. Super sweet, fun, and friendly. I think that he might struggle in trying to be a Monster in the usual sense because it doesn't come across as authentic, especially the more we hear from him in interviews. A couple things would help. Him having a mouthpiece, a Paul Heyman type figure that can not only work a mic but can present the image and get the heat necessary. The other thing is maybe considering changing up the type of Monster that he is going to play - instead acting more like a turned up version of himself. If he is a friendly giant, maybe he is the Monster out there for the kids - basically being the Monster version of John Cena going out there every week to crush the heels of the roster for kids out there everywhere. I don't know, I haven't thought long on this and that was just what came to mind immediately but I do think that he has all of the makings for so much more if he could work on his mic/ring personality. I think if he can get that together, the WWE would want to push him a lot harder the way that a monster of a man like him should be.

Fr 😅 It was basically the Brock Vs Cena match when Brock beat his ass most the match and then Cena won anyways
@coldsnap5742 did anyone say it was? I’m making fun of strowman it’s a joke. Strowman acts like Goldbergs this big great legend that won’t let anyone squash him. Regal squashed him without winning the match. Which is hilarious because Bill’s gimmick is supposed to be what Brock Lesnar really is in life. Regal was a weak n effectual blue blood aristocrat who whipped the floor with him & really busted his ass with the most basic British chain wrestling.
@ChaseLife453 ай бұрын
@coldsnap5742 bro you got to be the dumbest no one said he was weak in real life you can’t be weak and toss around a division 1 NCAA Georgia Bulldog football player like Goldberg. Might not be the best wrestler but he still had that going for him. But Regals character was never one time presented as a William the conqueror type it was of a blue blood spoiled aristocrat. Made gross faces when the common folk touched him the refs or fans. If he was William he wouldn’t have had the Royal Robe/Jackets and white Whig like they wore in the 1600-1700s. You really come off like you didn’t grow up on NWA JCP Mid South UWF and just watched WCW late 90s era on WWE network

That was a great move by Goldberg. Say what you want about Bill but he ans Sting are the two guys from that era who gave back to get new guys over. What do Austin, Rock and Taker do? They are usually getting one up on guys who will never get their lick back
@Mr.Septon2 ай бұрын
I definitely agree that Sting has given back a LOT to the wrestling world and over decades he built his career to such an epic standing that yeah he was especially able to utilize his name to help other fresh talent get over. I won't say that Goldberg hasn't given that rub to anyone, but a lot of what he was used for was to try and repeat the classic Goldberg formula but at times if anything it actually took the rub off of guys. Stone Cold and the Rock, totally, I get it. They haven't been in the ring or hanging out in the back much since they retired decades ago. Austin has done his own thing, in part including his podcast which arguably does offer a lot of insight for up and coming wrestlers to learn from. The Rock, well now he of course is playing a whole new role both in front of and behind the camera and yes, it does feel like when he's around the focus is on him. That isn't to say that he never tried to pass on the torch or anything but being out of wrestling so consistently altered their relation to do such - although since the Rock's daughter is also in wrestling, working significantly with NXT, his efforts, if he was helping anyone was probably related to his family. The Undertaker though I don't feel is a very fair one to throw in there. Firstly, in his thirty year career, he definitely put a world of guys over but besides that, the Undertaker was such a unique character, the Phenom, that you didn't have to beat him to get a lift in the eyes of fans. Just being in the ring against him, especially if it seemed like you gave it your all, could get a whole world of new support for you. Look at the Streak during the 21 years of Wrestlemania that took place over. There were wrestlers before Brock that Vince had wanted to break the streak but none of them wanted to do it, seeing it as something that shouldn't break like that, including Edge, Randy Orton, and others. You don't need to break the Streak to get over with fans, but just even being in the same ring as the Undertaker at WrestleMania is a huge rub. Not only that but he has definitely been there for a lot of people. The dude was the locker room general. Yes, he was also the judge for wrestlers court, but as the locker room general he was there for a lot of wrestlers, even when not physically there, they would call him for advice. Mark Henry is a good example of someone who was really struggling to learn the industry and to get off the ground when he entered the scene but over years of friendship and everything, Undertaker would give advice to Mark and it was when that advice - along with training with Stu Hart and company - that helped turn him into the man that would then go on to have an actual reign of any real worth. I still hear other wrestlers talk about how after a certain match, they'd get a phone call from the Undertaker congratulating them, or that they'd call him before a match to get his thoughts, etc. I imagine if you gave wrestlers the ability to say which wrestlers not just influenced but played a direct role in their career, you'd probably see a lot more for the Undertaker than support for Goldberg. Just my take though.

Stroman is the discount version of Big Show
@Mr.Septon2 ай бұрын
I would argue that Braun Strowman is the next evolution of the Big Show. Paul Whyte was great, but he honestly had so much wasted potential for most of his career. He often got lazy. @Mr.Septon2 ай бұрын
@@foreverrockinout considering there is age as a factor, and then the whole wrestling ability side. Massive wrestling Monsters have been beaten by smaller guys that were able to go the distance. It usually becomes about the smaller guys will to fight and to not give up. That dedication has seen small guys beat serious Monsters, so it isn't exactly unreasonable considering Goldberg at this point is not that young, white hot wrestler going out there every week hitting people like a truck. Plus if you're only willing to lose to other giants, it gets kind of boring with time as matches become too predictable. A lot of matches are predictable, but you at least want to get caught up in the moment and forget about that, believing that anything can happen.
