What’s the movie Braveheart about?
Braveheart, directed by Mel Gibson, in a richly detailed, Academy Award-winning saga of fierce combat, tender love and the will to risk it all for freedom. In an emotionally charged performance, Gibson is William Wallace, a bold Scotsman who uses the steel of his sword and the fire of his intellect to rally his countrymen to liberation from the English occupation of Scotland. Winner of five Oscars including Best Picture of 1995, Best Director (Gibson), Best Cinematography, Best Makeup and Best Sound Effects Editing "Braveheart" is "the most sumptuous and involving historical epic since 'Lawrence of Arabia'" (Rod Lurie, Los Angeles Magazine).

1. The old man is clearly the GOAT in this battle just full rage the entire time. 2. Love the look on the soldier’s face when Wallace pulls out the hammer; shame for him he couldn’t run fast enough. 3.Kudos to the last English soldier who, despite being completely outnumbered still made a point of putting himself between his Lord and harms way, right up till there was no point anyway

@@Elcore I am sorry but the argument: ''the film is shite for many reasons'' is completely invalid since the greatest majority of the cinema critics plus almost all the viewers deemed it a very good film. And then you have the 5 Oscars, i the good ol' times, when the committee gave them for art purposes and not for political agendas.. But then again, you could be referring to it's great historical inaccuracies-and if you do, you missed the point. The film was meant to entertain you, not to teach you. If you were looking for what actually happened.. you know.. you can always read a history book. My country's ancient history is frequently raped by Hollywood, and Europe, too. This is art, not history, i am afraid..

@@vardellsfolly5200 Sorry to disappoint you but there was not a time in history when the Oscars weren't rigged. And I was agreeing with you that it's a film with really good things about it - it's one of the best in terms of action scene editing! It's also got plenty about it that is just plain awful (in terms of a story or a drama, not even talking about historical accuracy).
@vardellsfolly5200
@vardellsfolly5200 2 жыл бұрын
@@Elcore Actually, you did not disappoint at all. I passionately adore the art of film-making. I know that the greatest majority of awards, if not all different awards, are quite often ''rigged'', as you put it. However, this by no means implies that in all circumstances are manipulative. And when it comes to the story, or drama, well. I respect your opinion.. but it is just that. I tend to trust another greatest majority, than of film critics and movie experts,when it comes to quality.. Now, i would never characterize BraveHeart as ''plain awful'' but it was certainly NOT ''The Remains of the Day'' which was nearly a masterpiece..

I would really love for him to make movies similar to the movies he did in his younger years, just using younger actors obviously. Like another revolution movie, with the same tone as the Patriot? @@billywashere6965 Felt real?.? Because you are obviously unfamiliar with the facts.... The battle of "Stirling".... Was not infact fought on a field. It was the Battle of Stirling Bridge, and a large reason the Scots won at Stirling was because the bridge was used as a bottle neck to force the English to funnel their heavy cavalry and large parts of their forces over the bridge, hundreds of English troops fell down into the river from the banks and off the bridge, and the remainder of the cavalry that made it across the river were introduced to to the Scottish Schiltrons, thus routing the English. Wallace also skinned the English commander "Hugh de Cressingham" and by most accounts, the Scots made the English commander skin into leather belts, lace and sheaths. Check your history... Its far more interesting than some Hollywood tale.

@@SpaceHCowboy Not to mention the term "Braveheart" was for Robert the Bruce, not William Wallace. The movie was entertaining, but I've always felt it's possible to make entertaining historical pieces that stay true to history with limited creative license. Not entirely authentic. The Scots that Wallace commanded himself were mostly peasants. But he himself was a noble. And as a result he had chainmail armor and a horse. And heraldry. He wasn't a dirty peasant like the movie shows. In fact, the same can be said for a lot of the Scots. Scottish soldiers at the time were broadly similar to English soldiers. The English had more numbers. But the Scots at the time didn't charge into battle wildly with leather and no tactics as shown. They had armor similar to the English. They had advanced tactics. They often used a pike wall formation which took a lot of training and discipline

@@lesenculinario6133 More like 6 pounds, really (5.95 technically), if you're referring to the famed Wallace sword. That's assuming the sword was, actually, the same used by William Wallace and assuming that sword was, in the 1290s, still the same large type and hadn't been reworked into a larger type later on. Mind you, he's not using his iconic claymore in this scene, and even if he was I still doubt it would cut clean through an entire leg and chausses of iron mail. It certainly wouldn't cut through this anachronistic style of armor the English wear in the film.
