15 hours in. Liking it so far. I’m a sucker for the classic RPG style though. It’s simple yet complex at the same time, if that makes sense.

That's just the thing, I keep seeing reviewer after reviewer saying the story is bad or bland or generic. And it certainly starts that way, and the story is no masterpiece of high art, but I find it enjoyable and engaging with incredibly dark turns. Certainly enough to make me want to keep progressing through the story. It feels very much like an old school Final Fantasy, and maybe if you think Final Fantasy pre-7 was generic and bland and bad then maybe you'll think this is too? Idk.

Around 60 hours story 100 complete. And yes you can do post game things.

Eh i'm not an rpg guy it's just me. I always felt with rpg's you just hit a button when your character/characters get in a fight and just watch them do an attack and you have no control of the character in fights i'm weird lol

8:21...Eh late PS2 maybe, but PS1 or early PS2, yeah, no that is just misremembering how good the graphics were back then. I remember at the time back on the Dreamcast remembering the THPS 1 &2 graphics looking fairly decent for the time, but then when I got back and play it again 15 years later it is like "I thought this looked good? really? I don't recall it looking like blobs of oversized polygons, but yeah it was this bad and the only reason it looked good was because what it was in comparison to at the time" Go back and look at even late PS1 graphics again, it is nothing like that. Mid to late PS2 sure, but PS1, no that is just misremembering what PS1 really looked like. To me it looks like just a port of the 3DS game as far as graphics quality, where it looks slightly less good then the handheld version purely because the handheld version was on a tiny screen where as on a TV blown up it looks worse, that is not a bad thing by any stretch of the imagination, I loved the first two games and am sure I will love this one as well, but just saying if you are going to compare it to any console I would compare it to the DS/3DS because it is exactly that a port of the graphics of where the game started on.

@@8-BitEric I kinda figured that was your point, but at the same time PS1 looked way worse then even NES because NES went for animated 2D graphics while PS1 was trying "realistic" 3D graphics, something that at the time looked good and in nostalgia looks good, but actually going back and seeing what it looks like today it is a lot uglier then you remember. There is a reason why games like Jet Set Radio on the Dreamcast still look good to this day while as games like THPS aged about as well as leaving milk out in the sun for a decade, the more you go for realism the worse it ages. All in all a good game can look like garbage but if the game play is good you can overlook the graphics, but still comparing it to PS1 was a bit far fetched because nostalgia skews your view of just how bad those graphics really were. I remember popping in THPS1 right before the THPS 1&2 remaster released, and I was shocked how bad it looked (still a fantastic game, but looked way worse then I remember).

Go back and play both bravely default 1 and bravely second on Nintendo 3DS. There's a lot of really good things you've missing out on. The story of these games are good. If you like RPG game this two games. By not playing the first two games on the 3DS is like only watching Star wars episode 9 and not watching Star wars episode 1-8.

I rented it and didn't really like it. Way too hard and too much grinding required. I didn't have the patience to die a million times on a boss who can get rid of most of your health or kill you in one turn. I wanted to like the game but I couldn't because of the difficulty.

I barely grinded in this game. It's all about proper set-ups. Besides, there's an easy option. If you get far enough you realize the game can be pretty easy if you just learn how to exploit bosses with specific abilities/jobs.
