“The more you use a weapon-type, the more effectively your character will be able to yield it in battle” This statement is just wrong. The letter grade attached to weapons are based on the job and do not change (until way later when you can equip certain passive abilities)

Also another really good beastmaster capture that comes early on is the water elementals in the canyon right before the desert area. They have the spell gravity which from my testing hits about half the time and deals major nonelemental magic damage easily hitting 9999 on more physically based bosses. Just unleashing a few on the berserker boss can end the fight in one turn. So if a boss is giving you trouble before chapter 2 or is resistant to physical damage try these suckers.

Another boss breaking tip. While this is more Grindy, max out any class you receive before a boss fight. The reason for this is that the freelancer class has a specialty that increases its effectiveness for every class mastered. Once you do that, switch to it as your main class and bosses will struggle to do even 10 points of damage. It’s how I was able to cheese through the game even on hard difficulty

Just finished watching the GameExplain review and saw this video in the recommended list. You did a great job on both! I consider myself pretty bad at JRPGs so thank you for the tips.

I felt like dedicating Gloria with the Bard/White Mage classes helped a ton as she would have access to a huge pool of MP, and I could easily run buffs for the party, heal when necessary, and chip enemies with some bow damage (which I rarely ran with my other party members so it was nice to have at least one member using this weapon class). I also equipped both the lunar and solar powered passives to regenerate MP for her in between turns, and MP Saver which helps burn less MP per spell. That way, if I over-brave Gloria's abilities when needed, I would regain all the MP I consumed. This helped in saving any usage of potion items since I could always auto-heal from the menu, after a fight, then regain that MP through her passive in combat.

Buffing and debuffing: "because they're boring" 😁😎💖 That made me smile and my day. 💃

If your target has both an elemental weakness and a physical weakness you can exploit (such as a sword weakness and an earth weakness), the damage from both weaknesses does seem to stack if you hit both at the same time (in the same example, the Vanguard’s Quake Blade).

I got this game last Sunday but still haven't had the time to start it up yet. I'm planning for a good session on Friday of this week and Saturday. I absolutely loved both Bravely Default and Bravely Second: End Layer and have both collectors editions plus the square enix statue of Magnolia which is great. OOOOOOOH! Would also recommend you capturing the big undead from chapter 1, as it can cause Contagion; it’s crucial for some boss fights, and definitely saved me the trouble of going against the holder of the Berserker asterisk, as he couldn’t use any of his abilities. Except for Crescent Moon, but ehh.

Aqua Elementals you can pick up on the road between the first two towns (something valley, I think?) cast gravity, which in this game is the magic counterpart to the flesh flayer ability. And they’re ridiculously easy to pick up. One mercy strike and capture.

Super gamebreak is beast tamer and capture all monster enemies using capture upon reaching level 12 for said job you'll get the 2nd job passive which increases you're stat based on total monster caught. Now use sub job thief and attack enemies with godspeed strike.

Super useful tips! Struggling to defeat Bernard right now so I can’t quite make use of your boss-breaking tip. Might just have to raise my second white mage’s job level till he learns Cura + Raise

You can also use orcale and give the enemy an element with elemental supplement that you are immune to which will make the party take 0 damage

Very good video :) Here's a pro tip: Undead have several oddities attached to them. Firstly, don't do any "drain" type moves on Undead, like Aspir Attack, since instead of stealing the enemy's resource, you yourself will lose that resource. Secondly, and more importantly, Undead can't receive healing of any form. Healing magic used on the enemy will instead damage them. And the same applies to healing Items. Just imagine what would happen if you used a Pheonix Down on an enemy...

The skeleton works because it is supposed to damage HP by half. Since the bosses have a lot of HP it hits hard at 9999.

Godspeed Strike is easily a top tier ability you can get from the Thief job. It hits twice (once immediately and again about a turn later) and the damage is based on your speed. Also, the Speed Booster Buns can be stolen from Brimstone Stallions which are right near the starting area.

I found and labbed a very hilarious build for boss fights... Step 1: master swordmaster for double duty, Step 2: master shieldmaster for that onez sub specialty Optional step 3: dual wield from phantom (so you're not losing stats) And have swordmaster dual wield 2 defensive bonus swords activating the sub specialty for the shieldmaster. Step 4: setup fluid stance, fluid flow and defender of the people. (You want to use both in one turn. Step 5: watch as your swordmaster tank covers allies to get bp and then gain back BP for counters. This here is fine by itself, but for the real cheese.. throw in fluid left as well as fluid flow and defender of people. Because if a enemy decides to brave and hit multiple times, your fluid left counter reduces their BP, and when I labbed this, I took a world boss from +3 into -3 BP, it couldn't do anything!

Red mage's healaga is fantastic with white mage's second specialty. Basically you have consisted cheap 3000 AOE heal every turn.

Would the Berserker ability where it guarantees your abilities will hit work with the skeleton soldier or does it not count as your attack?

Use poison on any boss that’s not immune. It might take a few tries and it does damage based on how much hp they have on all their turns. Also lasts the whole fight.

gamebreaking tip? if you really wanna go nuts, use swordmaster (with daggers) with phantom. add "generate bp on crit" use double atack command and multitasking. Mp leech on attackcommand from blackmage. stack some crit -> profit.

Use Monk early. Use Theif mid-game. Late to end Use Hellknight/Red Mage abilities to do 99999, X-Potion, 99999 again.

Main vanguard and sub thief. Immediately use all default and use godspeed strike on boss. Abilities : raw power(beast master) surpassing power(hellblade) critical amp(phantom)

A few things are missing in this game that i like to see in classic themed SE RPGs like flying an airship at some point (yes i agree it goes against the overall world design) Also its hard not to get tempted to overuse "body slam" ! I just spammed this skill from the first three hours all the way till post credit xD

First 10 hours of the game: Use Gambler with spin the wheel to farm PG. Then just throw attack items until you go to the 4th city. Then use sonic thrust from Dragoon. Boss breaking trick: Godspeed strike....

Godspeed Strike is all you need to break this game.

Godspeed strike breaks this game and all the bosses in it. More accurate and you can mix the beast masters Raw power ability early on to one round a lot of bosses. Even more buffs with a bard main sub white mage who sings hurts so bad. Go kick some butt defaulters!

Anyone having trouble with Bernard. Make elvis and Seth beastmasters. Or hell, everyone. Get about 20 of those big minotaurs in the basement of bernards. He's weak to axe. So each one does over 2k damage. I beat him in 1 minute. Without taking pretty much any damage

I disagree here with the Black magic, In this game magic is so underpower, you need way too much prep to make it useful. If you want damage the Monk class is perfect for this, it does some much damage and thief class is just broken...again!!
