This brings me so many fond childhood memories, horned lizards are also my favorite and I love them so much! I'm in Arizona but I haven't seen one in so long. I remember one time after many captures one squirted blood all over me, I went sobbing to my grandmother thinking I'd hurt it and she told me it was a defense of theirs. I'll always love horny toads❤️️

Probably not the same species, but we get little spiky lizards in my backyard on a daily basis. Cute little guys. **Edit** Just checked. The ones in my backyard are Texas Spiny Lizards, whereas the one in the video was a Regal Horned Lizard.

I live in Sonora and I have one of these living in my backyard. We don’t feed him of anything, just occasionally see him and some times he gets near the window and my cat on the other side would try to get him lol.

My grandpa and me used to catch these all the time, they're called horny toads locally, I would keep them as pets for a while normally, they're always pretty harmless.

I've even seen a few in the Colorado mountains. Pretty dark green ones with orange stripes. The ones in Texas have a Smiley Face on the back, or at least most an the Panhandle do.

Horned lizards always reminded me of Bearded Dragons, both modified scales, only the spikes on the head are sharp, soft bellies, and are completely calm in your hand.

I have 8 Bearded Dragons (all healthy and happy, also rescues only 2 have a untreatable diseases because of bad owners, Yellow Fungus and gout

I'm sick right now and have a bad stomach ache, but I felt better as soon as I saw Coyote. It's so weird. I was feeling really bad and I was like, " I need to get to Coyote! He will fix me!" Guess, what? He did. He's so happy, and funny, he can take your mind off of anything. Thanks, Coyote.

It's always fascinating to see these wild, presumably "dangerous" animals being so calm when someone holds them like that. I wholeheartedly believe that animals have just as much personality as humans do, they just have a different way of showing it.

In our Diné culture, horned toads are sacred to our people. They are our cheii (grandfather). We always pour them water on them and pray for rain. Their numbers have been dwindling over the years due to drought. About 10 years ago, i could go for a walk and find several, now i have not seen one in our area, for over 6 years. Thanks for sharing a desert lizard for all to see. Just thought i'd give ya a bit of a rundown of the significance of an animal the Diné tribe, the four corners. Thanks again Ma'ii (coyote- in the Diné language).

They are banned from the pet trade for dying species, and if you did get one you would need a 75 gallon terrarium, and you will need to have a ant colony too feed it.

We used to see the Texas horned lizard all the time, but with the fire and invasion their food source of harvester ants diminished now they are endangered and are very rare to see, makes me very sad.

@@dyst5728 I found a Texas horned in my back yard last summer, and sadly my dogs killed one 2 days ago. I'm assuming it was the same one because that subspecies is so rare, and I've never seen any others
