Brawl Erupts in Taiwan's Parliament Ahead of Lai Ching-te's Inauguration | Vantage with Palki Sharma
An ugly brawl erupted in Taiwan's Parliament ahead of President-elect Lai Ching-te's inauguration ceremony next week. Lawmakers shoved, tackled and punched one another amid a dispute over a proposed law. Taiwan's main opposition party- the Kuomintang (KMT) has presented a proposal that would give Taiwan's Parliament authorities over significant matters. While Lai's party, the ruling DPP has opposed this proposition, the party lacks majority in the Parliament. Taiwan's Parliament has witnessed such brawls before. Palki Sharma brings you a report.

Fight for Democracy. #Taiwan KMT and TPP parties hold the majority in parliament. They always collaborate to propose bills that are favor a certain foreign power(China) and not based on the interests of the Taiwanese people. The content of bills has not been made public, and there has been no discussion; KMT and TPP were trying to force the bills through.This is not democracy. They caused a conflict because DPP were trying to block the passage of the unreasonable bill.

after democratization, taiwan's devenlopment have been almost stalled for 30 years, with no new industries appearing on the island ever since and the salaries being stagnant. most of young people are making the same money (inflated adjusted) as their parents did when their parents were at their current ages in the 90s but the housing prices are multiple times higher now. the KMT and the DPP focus most of their attention in fighting over the grasp of power with each other all day long and the economic and industrial developments become second priority. Chinese people are good at in-fighting and power strifles, if you look at the history of China. Even within the Communist Party in the mainland, there are different factions that are wrestling with each other behind the curtains. That's why democracy doesn't suit China, imagine 1.4 billion people are fighting with each other like those in Taiwan in daily political smearing, hatred compaigns and physical violences. China will be thrown into the chaotic Warring States Period again, maybe triggerring another waves of Civil Wars.
@coold8d
@coold8d 28 күн бұрын
@@GoodCitizen-gm1tl nah, the main reason for Taiwan economy's slow growing is due to China's economy reform since 1990. Tons of Taiwan's resources, factories, and investments were brought to China to seize the new market and produce with low labor and utility cost. Taiwan's businessmen brought money and technilogies to China to create lots of business opportunities and employments in China in the 90s and 2000s, and thus slowed down the economy growth in Taiwan. Chinese should be thankful to Taiwanese.

Here’s a little backbround on DPP’s former presidents. Shui-Bian Chen was DPP's 1st generation was elected president in 2,000 (till 2008), and later put to prison after he stepped down with the help of corruption evidence US provided (owing undeclared real estate in New York City with his wife taking bribes) . DPP’s 2nd president (2016-2024) was Ing-Wen Tsai. Before 2020’s US election, DPP was pro-Trump (similar constituents, southern farmers and lower educated) and propagated, by subsidized media, Biden’s pedo-like behaviors and his son’s scandals. But after the election results, she immediately gave congrates to Biden, and later lamented his dog’s death on FB (this you probably knew). Tsai gave away TSMC’s technology to other countries (TW’s semi-con industries and TSMC were founded by the then autocratic KMT back in 1990’) and declined to buy BNT vacs in order to undermine the lives of the capitol and the adjacent city which did not vote favorably for DPP. All this farce ended when she yielded to the pressure from top executive of TSMC, Foxconn and Buddhist Compassion Relief Tzu Chi Foundation (a.k.a lots of votes. Buddhism is a major religion is East Asia). When Taiwan was surrounded by China jet fighters in 2022, DPP’s then president Tsai still showed up in a cuisine exposition and said nothing. DPP gave a lame excuse of “test missiles flying through the atmosphere over Taiwan do not belong to our airspace “. Most of her campaign contributions are from real estate developers (her dead father was a wealthy land speculator), let alone contribution from China-funded Shopee shopping site registered in Singapore. TW now has super high housing price/salary ratio, with housing price rises 80% during her 8 years.
