That first game shows that while obviously the craziest thing about Nadu is going wide and getting a ton of cards out of your library and into the game, the 3/4 flier for 1GU is still pretty darn good in 1v1.

The Tamiyo Draw-Go was a masterclass in patience! Really shows off how Wizards has given Blue tools to deal with on-board creatures, but the intended weakness of just turning lands sideways until something resolves and then turning creatures sideways until they surrender can still work. Of course, as you kept saying during the match, an Evacuation would have dragged on the match longer, and presumably a side benefit (or main intention) of an online Draw-Go deck wants the opponent to be impatient and concede just to get into a game with more boardstate and less counterspelling.

Amy, around 62 minutes in you asked about layers and timestamps. Kudo has an ability that takes effect in multiple layers. Reprobation applies in layer 4 and 6. However, when an ability is removed, if that ability was causing a continuous effect in a layer beneath it, that effect continue to apply since it was in effect first. See rule 613.6, it explains it more accurately than I.

That doesn't make sense to me. I'd be curious to know why this rule even exists. I have no grief with the core concept of layers. But I can't fathom this kind of magus of the moon + humility situations where the implementation starts falling apart.

@@guico33 This only applies if the ability works in multiple layers simultaneously. Magus of the Moon, for example, changes type (layer 4) and abilities (layer 6), so if the first part of the effect takes place, the second should as well. Since Magus would only lose his abilities once we get to layer 6, layer 4 has already applied This is better than the alternative, which I guess would mean that Magus + Humility would make all lands into Mountains, but they'd either keep their abilities or not depending on the order the cards were played

@@austinjackson3986 That's blue-player talk, right there. You stay in the game in the faint hope those mfers run out of counterspells so you can beat them into a pulp. The point of a counterspell-only deck is to be so trite and boring people concede. People pull it out to get their daily wins easy, and I stay in the match to make it tedious. I like flinging mud, I'm not above it, but I only put thematic counterspells into decks out of principle these days.

I love playing unpopular commanders, like Minthara or Aegar. So that game with Zarzoth was a blast of experience. That Tamiyo match tho... ill never understand blue players with counterspells...

The reprobation is definitely a really weird layers thing that plays on what layers happen first and if the ability effects multiple layers as one ability at a time or multiple individual abilities. Since Kudo's ability initially starts in layer 4 with making everything a bear, the entire ability is applied as a whole, And then in layer 6 reprobation removes its abilities even tho their already being applied. It was some weird thing I heard on "this is a commander channel" 's "tough rules and cool interactions" episode 73. It was in regards to dress down, but similar scenario.

Kudo is my favorite commander for the set. I really have fun with that deck on Arena and the only reason I started to play again. I use Battle of Ikoria or Chord of Calling to search for Elesh Norn when I can lock my opponent. Is also great to use the Agatha Soul Cauldron to buff your creatures but especially, get powerful effects. I once lockout my opponent after exiling Boromir and basically turning my entire board in Bearomirs.

I know she's pretty much just a blink commander, but I'd love to see you play fetch with Phelia, the goodest girl! I think she's my favorite commander out of MH3. I made a good stuff etb deck, a taxes deck, and as much of a doggo deck as I could with her. Just wish Arena had more dogs to put in there!

Honestly they should make an alchemy bear giving card. When you cast this, all creatures in your hand, deck, graveyard perpetually become bears in addition to their other types.

So what determines priority when you have 2 effects going on that affect creatures. Let's say you have this bear on the field, and your opponent has the green creature whose power is equal to your amount of lands, what decides which effect is followed? Also: this deck is fun.

I have always hated counter spells as a mechanic. It just makes the game completely unfun. It's like yay nothing gets played....game drags on until either you find your win, or I get enough mana and can play multiple spells a turn.

In the game versus Kroxa, why did you not sacrifice the Restless Prairie to the Sheoldred's Edict? You had 9 unblocked damage to the opponent (who had 7 life) and Aclazotz would not have gained any life since the creature he was blocking was gone before damage and won right then.
