The last time that happened I remember was in 1999, between the first race in Austraila, and the second in Brazil. I think Argentina should've been in between, but was cancelled after the calendar was finalized.

@@jaredbowhay-pringle1460 I think olympic years it goes to 5 weeks mate, but that's the summer break anyway, 5 weeks between races is very long all the same lol. And it was more common back in the 90s for only having 16 races a year, less races to spread out from the end of February until November.

@@HammyMansell80 Think the same thing happened at the end of 1998 (but can't remember if it was 4 or 5 weeks). There was a big gap between Luxembourg and Japan, and I think it was because there were plans for Kyalami to make a comeback then.

It's kinda hilarious how the commentators didn't notice Senna wasn't shifting gears anymore. He wasn't using a semi-automatic gearbox like Mansell. It was super obvious from the onboards that he was doing the entirety of the last 3-4 laps in 6th gear. Murray even complained about being shown the onboards not understanding that even the guy picking the camera angles saw what was going on.

Out of all the historic Grand Prix wins I have seen this is my all time favourite - the sheer pain, grit and determination for Senna to win in his home country against all the odds and the issues he encountered is simply awe inspiring in my view. The victory scream at the end really does cut deep

I was there. I got an autograph from Senna when he got off the helicopter next to "Senna's S" turn. I watched him raise his arms of victory in the crowd. Then I understood the heroic deed that had been. Yes, those who like F1 and go deep into the details of the problem with the gear, you will see that it was heroic. That's why Senna is so admired by me and especially by most of the drivers.

On anti-clockwise tracks, that wasn’t unusual in the 1980s and 1990s. Watch the ‘82 Brazilian Grand Prix - Piquet had the same problem, in a ground-effect Brabham - GE cars were brutal on the body. Senna’s additional straining to drive this car with 1 gear for 8 laps would have hurt anyone.

One of Senna's greatest victories, right up there with his first at Estoril in '85. So many things to over come in this first home victory, the gearbox, the rain, the dehydration/cramps, and then to win at home and have Fangio up there on the podium with you. Fantastic. As FURIOUS as I still was with Senna because of Japan 90 before this race started, I was super happy for him and Brazil when he crossed line in front. Godspeed Ayrton Senna.

@@DeployTheDRS what do you mean by "complete retro"? Early or late 90s? :D because I prefer late 90s over early

TeeGee Yeah. Late 90s is the better one :D That is the one I remember most when I think 90s F1!

@@DeployTheDRS exactly, for me it's memories when I played F1 2001 game :D but I still think it's best looking graphics.

How refresihing it is for me, as a Brazilian, to watch a this race with narrators that *actually* know what's going on! The Brazilian narrator was too busy with his demagogy and fake patriotism to notice there was something very wrong with Senna's car, and even said he was "too emotional" to get out of the car at the end of the race. Here, the commentator can tell Senna has lost the lower gears just from watching him. The knowledge of what's going on makes these last 7 laps even more unbelievable.

Wonderful, classic F1!! Even the old onboard cameras were great, they really showed the violence of those cars, and the bumps in the tracks. Modern F1 really looks easy in comparison.
