At least 11 people, most of them students, were killed when a school bus and truck collided with one another in southeastern Brazil on Monday night.
Students from the Dom Gastao Liberal Pinto school were returning to their hometown Borborema in three buses after a visit to an art museum in Sao Paulo, according to a report by the BBC.
The other buses in the group had already reached Borborema, but the last one was still driving along the SP-304 highway near Ibitinga.
A truck carrying vegetable oil suddenly veered from the opposite lane, ramming into the bus. The powerful impact ripped off the side of the bus and caused the truck to burst into flames.
The deceased included seven students and four teachers. Both drivers and another 28 students were injured.
