The skies opened once again Friday in southern Brazil, offering little respite for those whose homes have been swallowed by floodwaters, while the number of people forced to evacuate doubled in 24 hours.
Residents of the state of Rio Grande do Sul were bracing for a weekend of heavy rainfall, hitting just as waters that turned city streets into rivers had begun to subside.
The deluge - which experts link to climate change exacerbated by the El Nino weather phenomenon - has affected almost two million people, leaving 126 dead and 756 injured.

Manipulation already done. Army soldiers were far away from hero they only rescued few people for a picture after 3 days of the Beggining They Did minimum effort, only did presence. When Brazilian army arrived they prevented civilians to rescue Their own relatives using boats, asking for "driving boats permittions ". Thats because Lula is left, but RS state majority voted in Bolsonaro.

As a Brazilian, I would say that the journalist is not wrong but let me clarify things, the precautions were not taken because the governor of Rio Grande do Sul (Eduardo Leite) made several changes to the ecological policies of prevention in 2019, and no structural investments were taken to prevent floods, and now president Lula has sent 50 billion reais to reconstruct the state and help the affected people who are struggling to stay alive, it's his obligation as a president but it was the governor duty not to let this happen. Bolsonarismo kills people, liberalism and capitalism are destroying our country and the labor and poor class are the ones who are suffering the most.
