We Filipino usually cook it without oil we just reheated the wok/pot then chicken coz chicken had oil in skin then follow by ginger onion and garlic

In Philippines we call it sayote a substitute for papaya It's more yummy if the sayote is half-cooked. If it's overcooked it's no longer tasty.

How to cook rice, wash it until the water isn't murky. We call the green veggie Sayote (Chayote), it's an alternative for green papaya. We rub the end of the Sayote to get rid of the sap which is sticky. And I noticed you didn't remove the center part of the Sayote, which is a bit hard in texture.

Nice combination, hot meal and cold weather, dont put too much garlic it beacome bitter, put too much ginger instead, before you saute the chicken rab it by a bit of salt, also put fish sauce or a bit of salt to taste.

if you have chicken cubes or chicken bouillon it would taste much better. Plus you can just crushed the garlic to peel off the skin easily then you can cut it into smaller pieces. Plus you should fry the chicken till it turns golden brown and splash a little bit of fish sauce ( patis) if you have one before putting the water.
