I picked this one up at a local gun show and it's a beauty. Enjoy!

The pre-WW1 German Mausers are probably the finest quality rifles ever made. Owning a mint 1909 i can tell you that they're FLAWLESS.

I had the honor of having a copy of the Mauser 1908 in my hands when I went to Pernambuco, around 1997. It is incredible to imagine that weapons like these went down in history for their efficiency.

Mauser 1908, the famous rifle of the cangaceiro Lampião. Lampião was a type of gunslinger who operated in the northeast region at the beginning of the 20th century. In terms of comparison Lampião was like John Wesley Hardin, but I believe that Lampião was more violent and deadly. In 1931 Lampião appeared in the New York Times.

2,000 Meters. Not yards.

I found only one problem with your video. That hook on the underside of the front barrel band is NOT for stacking. It’s for the sling which has a wire hanger above the top keeper. It was used to tighten up the sling for parades.

I've been collecting Mausers for some time now and have been on the hunt for a German production Gewehr 98. They aren't all that hard to find, but prices for them are through the roof and, unfortunately, more than I am willing to pay. In my hunt, I have come across rifles used by various other nations like this 1908. My question is, could I still fill that gap in my collection for a G98 with a Brazilian or Turk mauser? They appear extremely similar minus the rear sight and longer upper hand guard.

That was the gun for cangaceiros. Their leader, the famous bandit Lampião, used it!
