For brazing steel, the steel is heated to red hot. This videos demonstrates heating the metal to red hot, getting the metal too hot and not getting the metal hot enough.

It is a very good concept to show examples of both what to do and what not do to. As a novice it becomes much easier to tune in to do it correctly, when you have an understanding of what happens when the temperature is to low/high or just right. Thanks for sharing and making it so clear.

I have watched 5 of your videos and they are really informative. I build tattoo machine frames, and have been using a mig welder. The brazing is much more percise, but more difficult to master, but with your videos I'm feeling a lot more confident.

Anything you post on here is always helpful George. You haven't posted a video yet that didn't teach me something. Keep up the good work. Norm.

I want to thank you for all your videos, I haven't touched a torch in 30 years or did any copper work, you have inspired me to give it all a try, I can't afford to get your DVD's and copper sheets at the same time, so I go for the copper sheets and watch all your videos over and over, for valentines day I made a butterflies sculpture, she loved it and I have 3 people wanting me to make them one, I have no idea how to price it any help would be really appreciated, thank you again for inspiring me to take the step into a new place in my life.

Bill, glad that you like the videos. Pricing is always an issue. What I would suggest is going on www.etsy.com & www.pinterest.com. Look for something similar to your work and see what it is priced at. That will give you some comparison. I go into a lot of detail in my book "Making a Living with your Arts & Crafts". www.amazon.com/Making-Living-your-Arts-Crafts-ebook/dp/B0058TUS14/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1392531672&sr=1-1&keywords=Making+a+Living+with+your+Arts+%26+Crafts

Thanks for your comment. If you are making your living or part of your living building Tattoo Frames check out the videos on the Henrob 2000. The flame on the Henrob is even more precise than a stand oxy/ace torch.

I've done very little cast iron repair. Tig welding with a Nickel rod sounds like a good way to get the job done.

I use a small Victor Performer Oxy/Ace torch. I don't work with aluminium. Do a search for tinman tech. He does aluminum and he also sells a small Mecco torch which might be just right for what you want to do.

Hi George, I really like your video series. Quick question, I was wondering if you have ever had the need to braze cast iron? I have repaired cast iron using the tig welding process with a nickle rod in the past.

I'm just gathering information before I dive in. I use oxy acetylene to weld lead for my job but want to get into aluminium brazing with oxy acetylene. I don't want too go down the machine weld line like a twig welder,

I don't work with aluminum. Lots of KZfaq videos for welding aluminum along with the proper rods. Do a search on KZfaq.

In the UK we have to pay 25 GBP a month to rent out oxy acetylene bottles on top of purchasing the gas, Can you use propane and oxy ?
@897473
@897473 3 жыл бұрын
I've never used propane. Many people are using propane vs. the high cost of acetylene in Europe. You'll probably find a number of KZfaq videos on oxy/propane. I don't work with aluminum, although there are a number of videos on welding aluminum on KZfaq.
