How do you calculate how much food the population needs? In Patrician 3 there is a clear indicator in the market-house but how do you do that in Caesar 3? Trying to understand the mechanics instead of just producing it... If that makes sense...

I don't know the exact number, but I know 8 farms can support a block of 22x6, a little less if you have wheat in a suitable climate. Usually my baseline at first is 8 and then i just expand from there. Fish can be a bit wonky because you're trying to fit wharfs where possible and can end up with longer walks to the granary, so that one is a bit tougher to work out.
