Have extra bread in your home that you don't want to go to waste? Make Bread Pudding! This old fashion, traditional recipe is absolutely delicious, cheap, and easy to make. Make your own loaves of homemade bread, then use any leftovers to make this simple dessert for your family.

Robyn on the Farm's Bread Pudding Recipe & Vanilla Glaze Recipe
5-7 pieces of bread (about 4 cups)
2 Tbs melted butter
4 eggs
2 c milk
3/4 c sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp cinnamon
Break pieces of bread and put into 10" cast iron skillet or 8x8 pan. Drizzle melted butter over the bread. Mix remaining ingredients and pour over bread. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes.
Vanilla Glaze Recipe:
2 Tbsp melted butter
1 c powdered sugar
3 Tbs milk
1 tsp vanilla
Mix with wire whisk and pour over warm bread pudding. Enjoy!!

1 1/4 c warm milk
2 Tbs olive oil
3 C bread flour
2 Tbs sugar
1 tsp salt
2 tsp active dry or instant yeast

I recommend sprinkling a little bit of Ghost Pepper Salt on top as a garnish before eating. I might be the only person in the world who uses Ghost Pepper Salt as a dessert topping.

I have heard that ghost peppers are some of the hottest in the world…that makes me scared to try it! I actually never have seen ghost pepper salt, but now I’ll have to look for it! You have me intrigued!

@@RobynOnTheFarm Its a product I get at the Savory Spice Shop. I mixed a sprinkle in my yogurt this morning for breakfast and I dissolve some in my pancake syrup. There are other brands of the product too. It is not equal parts salt and ghost pepper its mostly salt but infused with some of the pepper. It is not painful and when you sprinkle on a dessert there is so much dessert that the spice is diluted even more. I have a philosophy that just as red,yellow and blue are the 3 primary colors that sweet, salty and spicy are the 3 primary flavors. I call it the "culinary trifecta" and I love all 3 together in a dish. It does not need to be equal amounts. But a tiny bit of salt and spice in a dessert stimulates the taste buds in different ways that redundant sweetness does not.

Sounds wonderful. I love fruit. I think there are many Jam flavors that would be good if apricot is not available. I posted above that before eating I would want to sprinkle some Ghost Pepper Salt on top. Ghost Pepper Salt (in very small amounts) is my favorite dessert topping.

Fun fact: I stopped buying cinnamon many years ago and I might go the rest of my life without buying it. My reason: I discovered a product called PUMPKIN PIE SPICE and it is basically an "enhanced" cinnamon. Its mostly cinnamon anyway but also has other goodies like cardamom, nutmeg, ginger and allspice in it. Because its mostly cinnamon and those other ingredients are pretty similar to cinnamon anyway it can substitute for cinnamon in ANY recipe calling for cinnamon.

I have pumpkin pie spice sitting in my pantry, but have never thought to try it in my bread pudding-I’m definitely going to try that! I bet it is really good. Thank you for the great suggestion!

@@RobynOnTheFarm You are welcome but my suggestion is for ALL recipes across the board that call for cinnamon. Its probably 90 or 92 percent cinnamon anyway so its basically cinnamon with slightly more flavor variety. I recommend once you have used up your cinnamon jar just having that spice become "cinnamon" for recipes. A better way to have marketed that product would have been to call it "enhanced cinnamon" so that people are not fooled into thinking its only for pumpkin pie.

Eggs would be an ingredient so its basically "frittata" with bread mixed in. In my opinion such a dish would have to have tabasco as a condiment.

I had never even thought about it like that! They are very similar! I grew up in the south on cornbread dressing instead of traditional stuffing so it’s less like this bread pudding, but yes I think you’re right!
