A few weeks ago I was able to get out before the heat hit and I had a nice little time hiking and making breakfast. This was filmed along the Wild Azalea Trail, but off the trail a ways.

Great Firebox technic and instructional video. I use the same GSI Java Drip and have found that adding a coffee filter slows down the drip and brews a stronger cup. Cheers.

Great as always. Tip here for focusing : It is good to put the tripod (that you are using for the camera) in the spot that you'll be sitting and in the "head" of the tripod spread a red bandanna not only for focusing but also to set the exposure of the light (for being that red it's a neutral color for photometer measuring as well as green). Then bring the tripod back to the camera spot and shoot from there, all this if you use Manual focus setting and center spot focus and light measuring. Also a good option in that frame that was out of focus would have been to set the camera in Autofocus with Center priority patching and as you stand in front of the frame it follows the focus as you move. Ok good luck

While perusing your firebox nano video i came across a hack someone contributed for these great stoves. He was using regular pellet stove pellets with great results so why not "flavored Traegar pellets" for bbq'ing meats on top of Fireboxs' grate accessory ? I'll be trying this soon myself. Enjoy your helpful equip reviews 👍

HI Ernie, I always enjoy your videos and looking forward to more field cooking vids. You'll continue to enjoy using both Firebox stoves I'm sure. I also have both the Gen 2 5" and the Titanium X-Case Nano and they're my favorites in my collection. For some recipe suggestions, maybe you could do a gumbo or jambalaya since you're in LA and have that Creole heritage in your area. Anyway, thank you for all your videos. How did you like cooking on the MSR Seagull pot / frying pan you used in the video? Did it clean up easily? Any concerns? I have two of those pots, two different sizes too, and have never used them yet. This video is the first time I have seen someone cook in that MSR pot. What are your impressions? Likes? Dislikes etc? Would love to hear from you. I like the firebox stove too. The area you are in is gorgeous. Where is it? I can already guess some of that answer. All those deciduous trees means it's the eastern half of the USA or Canada, right? I liked the video. Keep up the great work. Keep on Hiking Brother!

I liked it, you just have to watch the heat and oil it well cause it can stick easily. One thing I like is you can store quite a bit in it. I live in Central Louisiana, and it is indeed beautiful. Thanks for watching!

PHmd: Appreciate your video, but OVERCAST skies make for great lighting - in most cases - because you don't have harsh shadows, and the lighting is flat, which allows true colors to emerge without the extra warm tones of direct sunlight.

Great video, but I could do without the constant sniffling. I just watched another of your videos featuring the firebox stove...same thing.. constant sniffling.... bring some Kleenex on your next shoot.
