The Leafs are a Razzle Dazzle regular season team Once playoffs start they have no hunger for a Championship they stay in regular season mode not War mode ...Mitch could care less about winning soon as game 82 ends hes already planning his Summer to party in cancoon John Tavares trys a little but he is just getting too old...Matthews & Nylander are ok but need to get them wayyyy better linemates Woll is incredibly good but he's the Jeff Lupal of goaltenders (soft as tissue paper) needs a smart coach and for crying out loud bring in someone that knows how to run the pp/pk Guy Boucher you suck!!! all this coming from a long term Leafs fan since the Pat Burns era now he was a beauty head coach!

Honestly if they go back and do the same thing over again 100% can guarantee you. I am not watching it. This team should have been blowing up after 3-1 series loss to Montreal They strung it along for three more seasons and were still basically getting the same results. One series win with cord. I'm a Habs fan and was shocked Marner was brought back after 2021. It's been obvious since then that his issue isn't a lack of playoff experience or needing to become a more complete player - he just doesn't care. He's always floating, no hustle, no muscle whatsoever in the playoffs. But it's not just him. Is there anyone who has even once said "we needed to work harder / be better" after a playoff loss? I think O'Reilly did, but of course he's a winner. Otherwise it's always, "we were right there, we played our game, just didn't get the breaks" bla bla bla. They don't hold themselves accountable, so I don't see how a new coach will change their attitude. They're pampered and just don't care.

When the Leafs lost game7, I felt nothing. Nothing. We've all become so numb to this that it doesn't bother us any more. And THAT is the real indictment of this team. This is new - in previous years we were crushed. Flattened. We have now reached a point where we can't get any flatter, so to speak. If real change doesn't happen this summer I really can't see fans getting excited about next year when they know it will be more of the same.

To add to Sid’s point regarding the Raptors and moving DeRozen after the 2018 season, Dwayne Casey was 2018 coach of the year but same as DeRozen another elimination at the hands of James was not accepted. A million years ago the Jays did something uncomfortable when they shipped out beloved players Tony Fernandez and Fred McGriff because simply winning a division was no longer good enough, the return was Alomar and Carter and the rest is history. Sad thing is this organization doesn’t even have to come close to winning a cup to be considered successful, a couple runs to the conference final would be huge after 8 yrs of the same formula failing, try something, anything, just make it different from this BS.

So true, I remember those days. I used to tell all my fellow Leaf fans that Montreal fans were way smarter than us. About 15 years ago Leafs fans were paying $3,000 and up for lower bowl tickets to the last game of the season and the Leafs hadn't even qualified for the playoffs. They've been selling out for over 20 years now no matter what crap they put on the ice. Ridiculous.

I get your point but Montreal is a last place team a million miles from the playoffs and the Bell Centre is not only full this year, it’s loud. Amazing energy considering the standings. It’s not about caring it’s about stupidity, the Leafs spend big, right to the cap but built the team like it’s a video game and that as we all know doesn’t work. As a Leafs fan I’m not paying super close attention to the Canadians but I bet they have a blue print or road map back to playoff hockey that actually makes sense.

@@supra3.063 The difference here, in my eyes, is the present management team. We had bad management for a long time and Bergevin was somewhat of a disaster. His outlook was "Get to the playoffs and see what happens" almost every years and there was little communication with the media and fans. Now the fans feel they are being kept in the loop better and the new attitude is to build a better team for years to come (hopefully, lol) Pretty sure we are a few years away from a great playoff run, but watching them bring in young talent and watch them grow into a great team will make Habs hockey fun again. I'm 64 and have seen some great Habs teams, but the time of dynasties may be coming to an end in this cap era and I know many people disagree with me, but at one point the NHL will be too watered down for my taste and expansion to 36 teams will make a lesser product, but those expansion fees have the NHL googly eyed !

They don't even have a "good" team. A good team doesn't go 1-9 in playoff series. They haven't even sniffed the 3rd round and got embarassed the only time they made it to the 2nd round. Regular season metrics are meaningless when this team gets nothing done in the playoffs.

Sid has fortitude and the Leafs don't have any balls. Well spoken. Totally agree, Marner needs to sit in the press box next season if he won't lift his NTC. It's time for Matthews to be the new captain. Dubas instigated all these ridiculous contracts. Keefe needed to leave with Dubas to Pittsburgh, so not sure why he was extended for two more years?

I'm a Rangers fan since '79 and I can say with certainty that while the Rangers have had a successful season (thus far) and I'm cautiously optimistic, the reality is that Glen Sather has been here in one capacity or another for nearly 25 years and with everything he has available to him pre and post Cap has exactly one Finals appearance in that time. He had a world-class goalie and couldn't do anything with him. When Sather hasn't had the shoulders of Messier or Gretzky to ride, he's been a sub-par executive who was more suited to running a lemonade stand than an NHL franchise. Yet, he keeps rolling. Shanahan is in my 'Top 3' favorites ever. I was at his debut in the Meadowlands way back in the day. But ten years with no results is unacceptable. It insults those who have to produce results for a living.

Starting to feel like a crazy person following this group. They should have made changes after Montreal series. Your right though Sid, they probably won't make changes because of the cash they are making off those names!!

The problem with sticking Marner in the press box is he’ll actually help you win in the regular season, just not playoffs. That shift in game #2 where he didn’t wanna go into the corner with McAvoy says it all, and I’m not even gonna bother with his tantrum on the bench when Nylander called him out. As a team… - 1/21 on the PP in this series - 6 straight game #7 losses (7 incl CBJ in 2020) - 5 most recent game #7 loses they didn’t score more than 1 goal (2024, 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019) - 13 of their last 14 playoff games they only scored 2 goals or less

They probably will trade Marner though and will get fleeced. They could get more if they traded Matthew's as his stock is high. Marner can create chances for others and Nylander can create his own offense. Matthew's is a shooter, best in hockey who needs a setup guy.

@Zoogleas
@Zoogleas 26 күн бұрын
If Keefe is still the coach next year I'd be amazed. He literally separated himself from the team during the postgame presser when he said other teams engineer ways to make *the Leafs* lose. He didn't say *us,* and he did it twice. Some might say that means nothing, but it actually does. It's almost a tacit admission that he does not feel he coached them in a manner that was unsuccessful, which may be true to a point, but when you have the results the Leafs have had in the past decade, many will disagree with that sentiment. As for the other things: I've grown tired of the "Shana-plan" now and it's time to move on from him. Treliving can stick around, but he'd better made a blockbuster trade in the offseason. One point about Woll: it's unclear when exactly the injury occurred that kept him out of game 7, but it's suspected to be on the attempted final save of the game. Now I know players have big heads and want to get the shutout registered, but there was a bigger picture to be seen here, and making a literal last second save at the end of a game that was already won made *ZERO* difference to the outcome. Had that been a 2-1 lead with the possibility of tying the game, it would be understandable. To some extent Woll himself has to take some blame in that injury taking place, but unfortunately like Murray and others before him, he appears too injury prone and I agree they need to finally shore up that one position especially. Meh. We'll see what happens. Go Canucks?!?

Playing head games with guys is not toughening anyone up its just being a mind gaming prick. If you think Babcock isn't an ass then you are just a dumb. Modano needed 1 more game to play game 1500 in his career and Babs scratched him for what? The last 10 games or so of the season? Thats ridiculous, Modano played the game the right way and was a vet that didnt deserve that treatment. Babcock opening night 2019 scratched Spezza after he just signed with the Leafs and Spezza had his whole family there, and Babcock scratched him last minute. Spezza played the next game. So why do it? He was also a vet that played too long and was too good of a player to deserve that treatment, he deserved respect. Thats what men do that are actually tough, they give and earn respect to those that deserve it. There are also plenty more examples of these stunts that Babcock pulled as well over his career you just need to research them. I love tough coachs like Berube, Torts or even Gallant but what Babcock did is not toughening guys up, thats not sending a message, thats not doing anything other than just being a prick to be a prick and play head games with people, thats what weak men do, they play head games, not tough guys. You can be a hard nosed tough coach without the head games and tricks that Babcock used for YEARS over his career.
