I read a biography long ago and discovered then that Priscilla was 14 when it started between them . I was horrified because she was a child . I literally adored his songs but can't enjoy them now . A predator is a predator famous or not . His daughter has died I think so she at least was spared this infamy .but Priscilla Presley is still there and I keep wondering if she forgave her parents who allowed her to live with him at a very young age. And did she even realise she was a victim ?

As a musician who is 59, many of the rock and pop songs I grew up with are from the POV of an older man preying on young girls. There are SO MANY songs I will not sing/play. Older men started preying on me by age 9. I'm sure that if someone with as much $ and power as Elvis or Michael Jackson or Bill Clinton had showed interest in me, my parents would've allowed it! Seeing young girls as prey was absolutely normalized.

Elvis came from severe poverty and at a young age had practically anything he desired bcuz of looks and his wonderful voice. That would change anyone. I remember rock singers back in the 60s/70s have these beautiful models that def were underage. Most that r still living have changed their ways. Most ppl that loved Elvis' music don't want his problems brought up over and over. Let him R.I.P.

@@chainamarie03My grandma faced actual starvation and watched family members die from it in WWII. She built a garden in the dirt behind the barracks they were housed in later to feed the rest of her family better food. She also at least faced rape threats from soldiers if not worse, she never fully talked about it. I have also talked to male war survivors and their trauma who are hard-working family fathers that never behave like this, even if they could. They never harrassed anybody or made cruel jokes. There's no excuse for such behaviour, and neither is there an excuse for encouraging it or explaining it away.

People who say that Elvis wasn’t a Hollywood elite must be fairly young. I’m 70 years old and he was HUGE when I was younger. Most people my age weren’t really big fans of Elvis but I was. I was known among my friends for doing a good impression of him. I started impersonating him when I was so young I don’t even remember it. The biggest song on the radio at that time was Hound Dog. I used to get mad when I heard anything negative about him but I have since realized that he was a crappy human being. He had a bad temper and he was capable of being quite cruel. (He should’ve listened to his own song “Don’t Be Cruel”) I’m rarely surprised anymore when I hear something negative about a big star. One possible benefit of people learning this kind of stuff about a big star is that it shows people that their idols often have feet of clay. They are human like everyone else and they get used to having people be submissive to them so they begin to think they are Godlike.

@last-chance_ I don’t know the motivation of any of these women but I can make a guess that would probably be pretty accurate. Even though he’s been dead now for longer than he was alive, his estate is still huge. I don’t know about the veracity of any specific claims and I haven’t seen the Netflix documentary but I suspect they have varying degrees of accuracy. This isn’t a new thing. Women have been making similar claims since the sixties. It’s just that they were either paid to keep quiet or no one believed them. It’s pretty well known that he had a thing for young girls but he was Elvis. How hard did he have to work to get pretty much any woman (or girl) he wanted? I imagine these girls gave in pretty easily but the trouble came when he got tired of them and moved on to the next one I have also heard a lot of other claims about him that had nothing to do with his sexual proclivities. I heard these things while he was still alive but I refused to believe them. He was an icon. The image that he projected was not genuine but I believed it. I was a huge fan and thought he could do no wrong. When he died, I was devastated. It was like a huge part of the world had disappeared and left behind a void. Of course I was immature. I know better now. His music is still good and I still like it but I’m able to separate the music from the man. When you get right down to it, he had a good voice. Beyond that his talent was limited. He wasn’t a great guitar player, writer or actor and he was not a good man. This is a common story. There are lots of big stars who turn out to be crappy human beings despite their public persona. We see what they want us to see and oftentimes that’s quite different from who they really are.

Some of the southern states were a whole other world when it came to this issue. Elvis was born in Mississippi in 1935 and raised in Tennessee. In Mississippi , in 1958, the marriageable age was raised to 17 for boys and 15 for girls - prior to that, it had been 14 and 12 respectively - that mindset was the norm Elvis grew up with. Another contemporary rock and roller, Jerry Lee Lewis, married his 13 year old cousin - it was legal but it pretty well destroyed his career . Its easy to come out now and smear someone who can't defend themselves. He's been dead for 45 years - why only now are we hearing this ? Big bucks to be made I guess.

I haven't seen this new documentary about Elvis. The huge number of young women who had encounters with him is already well reported. He had a known crush on the actress Debra Pagett, but couldn't date her. Priscilla aged 14, purposely styled herself to look like Pagett, and arranged to be introduced to Elvis when they were in Germany. He didn't seem to want to get married to her, or to be tied to anyone for long. His fame and charisma ensured he had a stream of hopeful pretty females, and he had many affairs with other stars, notably Ann Margret. My impression is that he really did live like an over-indulged and cosseted king, everything he did was to excess. His early life was poverty and shyness, and he was considered weird but very mannerly and respectful. He was the manifestation of the American Dream, until his physical and mental health deteriorated so drastically. I think Elvis was a phenomenon with an incredible gift. He seems to have had a dark side, well, I'd call it sleazy and sexist. But apart from the excess, I don't think it's particularly outside the parameters of human male sexual behaviour or fantasy, then or now 🤷‍♀️ 😊xx

Here are a couple of facts about the movie itself I did not mention in my previous comment: 1st, Priscilla stated in the past couple years that she "LIED" in her book "Elvis and Me" She lied to sell the book. This "Mockumentary" is based on that book. A TV movie was made about that book when it came out 20 or more years ago. Also - Priscilla fought fought her daughter Lisa Marie's wishes that in the case of her death, her (Lisa's) daughter Reilly take total control of the Elvis estate. Priscilla fought to stay in the game, because she has made MILLIONS over the years and has brought her the only fame she has ever had. Finally, Priscilla settled for 1.4 Million and an undisclosed sum that she will be paid for the next ten years. MONEY - NOT TRUTH - MONEY! Priscilla was also involved in a cartoon about Elvis for $$$. This is about an ugly battle between family members.

In the real world no one , except others the same, would do this, they would be avoided and extremely lucky just to be ignored and not assaulted. It's plain to see that they have all been molesting kids thanks to their friend Epstein. Most of us have got to be brain washed to let it be and not be dragging these filthy bastards on to the streets to hang them high! Dirty fkng bastards are running at least the western world and leading us into a nuclear war. I think they think that they would actually be safer living in their palace bunkers rather than risking people waking up and wanting to do to them what they did to the child molester at the bottom of their street. What a fkd up world we are in, when it's ok to molest a child (probably worse things) if u are a billion or millionaire, and of course, if ur a friend of Epstein, the child sex trafficker.

It was always shocking to me that Elvis dated Priscilla when he was a grown man and she was a young teenager. He also hung around with sleazy looking friends who no young woman would want to be alone in a room with. It was a different time, but I suppose if we don’t call out predatory behaviour even in our heroes, maybe especially in our heroes, we diminish the crime. Every potential child predator needs to categorically understand that there will be serious repercussions if they carry out their fantasies. I doubt this will change Elvia’s image though. Like the fans of Michael Jackson, they will simply deny any wrongdoing.

I loved Elvis as a child and still do till this day. I was 10 years old when he died. I’m thinking back to your interview with Sean on the Tiger King the other day and what he said about the documentary that people believed. They were PAID! Were these people? If they were that gives them zero credibility. Why now? Is it due to Lisa Marie’s death? Priscilla was 14yrs old when she met Elvis. He wanted to marry her and rightly so her parents would not let her move to America with him. Of course they eventually did under strict conditions which Priscilla admitted in her book weren’t followed because they were both so in love. I wouldn’t put it past Priscilla to sue the TV show and the women saying it. Facts are not defamation but how do they prove they are telling the truth? Evan Rachel Wood with the help of Ilma Gore released a so called documentary called Phoenix Rising in early 2022, claiming herself and some other ex girlfriends of Marilyn Mansons were horribly sexually and physically abused by him. People were shocked and wanted to support her and the Me Too movement, especially since it was Marilyn Manson. Just look at him, he’s a devil worshipper with satanic music so of course he’d do that sort of stuff, right? Well, it’s turning out not so good for our heroine ERW. There’s a faked FBI letter, swatting incident, email hacking of attempted child porn, coercion, a whistleblower and ERW has just lost custody of her little boy because of the abuse she has put him through doing this to Manson. My point being, just because it’s a documentary with real people who look like they’re all telling the truth, it doesn’t mean that they are. I don’t know if Elvis did this or not. I don’t want to believe it. I do believe this is a money grab doco either way, using Elvis’s name.

Elvis met Priscilla in Germany when she was 14. She was there because her father was stationed there during the war. Elvis stayed in Germany an additional year. Priscilla went home and dated boys. She did not move into Graceland until 3 years later which would make her an adult. Elvis, DID NOT have sex with her until their wedding night when she was 21. His mother wanted him to marry a nice girl. She asked girls to visit Graceland to meet Elvis - WHILE SHE WAS IN THE ROOM. She made food, and they watched TV. The women were interviewed in 1992. We all expected that it would be horrible. The women, all married, mothers and normal laughed at the question. They said it was like hanging out with their friends. This is a LIE that has been surfacing over and over. Elvis never touched anyone if they wanted to remain a virgin. He respected that. He was more religious, and followed the Bible to a T. WE ARE SO depraved ourselves that we cannot believe anyone can be that good. One of his female co-stars talked with him about becoming a nun. He encouraged her to be as close to God as possible. It is what he wanted. Some co-stars were friends only, some had a closeness to God and that is all they wanted to talk about. Some were girlfriends. I have been a victim of sexual abuse since the age of 2. Everything you can imagine has happened. You can sense who is a predator of young girls, and children in your bones. I was ready a long time ago, to face it if it were true - I investigated, and found the more I learned about Elvis, the more I realized he was unusually good, generous to a fault, and loved God, with everything he had. You are listening to lies, that are raking in cash for somebody. It isn't a good way to live. Sometimes, we have to believe in the goodness of our fellow humans for a change or, we have to give up on this world. We are going off the edge with too much hate and too many lies. Wake up tomorrow, and do a simple act of kindness to someone. Even if it is only a smile. It may save their lives, and ours.

Well done Andrew. I know that people think of Sinatra, Dean Martin and Elvis as singers but they were also huge film stars. The reason Elvis who's screen charisma and natural acting talent starred in so many awful films was because they were so successful financially. Also the majority of Elvis films were actually made in Hollywood.

We all knew, these people are everywhere, they are friends, family, relatives, and yes, some famous. Hold your kids close, be on alert of anyone who takes too much interest in your children. I thought we as a society were gaining ground in this respect, but with the new movement to completely normalize this behavior, i fear it will only get worse.

Its not too easy. Ever. It's never easy. Some research into trauma, the brain, and the body will help you all understand why these sorts of things often don't come out until later. Look up how often girls are abused or R. Then look up how often claims are false. You all dont understand just how small of an instance it is that a woman hasn't been abused, and how small of an instance it is that someone would falsely claim this. Look into Male victims experiences if it helps you relate and empathize. It is a problem that affects many more of your brothers and sisters than you realize. The reported stats are astonishing, but they aren't even accurate depictions of the real world of danger children and women and even grown men face.

We need to be careful about judging cases from history with todays moral standards. At one time it was typical to marry at 15 or 16
@morticiagomez6166
@morticiagomez6166 Жыл бұрын
Back in that Time, a 15 year old was considered mature enough to marry. They were more mature than the teenagers of today. (And many teenagers of today are Seksually Active , let’s not pretend they’re innocent! We even have shows called “16 and pregnant!” Today! So let’s not be HYPOCRITES??) The teenagers back then had to grow up quickly, doing house chores and they knew about raising families. To marry your 15 year old daughter to someone who was ten years older than herself or less (so if he was in his early 20”s) was considered normal. Remember than men take longer to mature in their brains than women do . However, it would’ve been considered WEIRD even back then for a man in his 50’s looking to marry a teenager ….? Gross…. However , did Priscilla Presleys’ parents Realise that Elvis didn’t just want THEIR daughter but every other 14 to 15 year old girl on the block ?? No. They didn’t realise that this young 20 year old handsome man was a child predatorr who would divorce her when she got too ‘old’ for him and seek after other young girls, even though he was getting older in age. How were they to know? I don’t think the parents are to blame as they thought he would be marrying their daughter for LIFE.

It was the same in the U.K when I comes to Elvis after a gig he consumed massive amounts of sedatives to sleep. He took amphetamines during the day. He is not in the same category as Bill Cosby. Elvis was huge, he was an actor and served in the military. Yes Priscilla was underage it was not a secret. I'm saying this because I do not believe anything i read on social media. Then she told them how old she was.They were literally kicked out of the UK and it did great harm to his career even in America. kzfaq.infoE3mDYai1jEs Like Elvis, Jerry was from the South. Priscilla pursued Elvis, not the other way around! Priscilla aged 14 went to Elvis' rental home to meet him and strike up a relationship, she kept going to his house, he did not visit her. When Elvis left Germany Priscilla never heard from him, she kept calling Graceland and eventually got to speak to him. Elvis was blackmailed into letting Priscilla live in his house to finish school in the US with the only end being marriage. The night before their wedding Elvis was found sobbing in the kitchen, he did not want to marry her! Priscilla openly mixes the truth with lies to obscure how she got Elvis snagged. Priscilla tells with her own mouth that Elvis refused to make love to her before their wedding night. She was 21 when they got married. Elvis was not sexually attracted to Priscilla! With her own mouth, and in her book, Priscilla complains how she tried to get Elvis to take her virginity since she was 15 and he REFUSED. Even after they were married he was not interested in her so she kept on accusing him of cheating since her ego could not stand the rejection. Elvis never "groomed" Priscilla the way she tries to sell it either. He told her how to dress, do her hair and make up because she was young and mixed in circles where women were well groomed; her mother was thousands of miles away in Germany, he was the only one who cared enough to give her guidance so that she would fit in. When they got divorced, after Priscilla left Elvis for their karate instructor after a then already 2 year affair, Elvis forbade her to use the Presley name; after he died she only relinquished Presley for Beaulieu for a shirt while in the 80's but quickly went back to Presley because no one knew who the hell she was without it! Priscilla used Elvis to get fame and fortune and then after his death used his name and his daughter to get her clutches on his estate. Priscilla was not mentioned in Elvis' will at all! He made his father trustee of Lisa's inheritance, he did not trust Priscilla! Priscilla is into Scientology after befriending John Travolta in the late 70's and so got help from Sciebtologists to turn Graceland into a money spinner so that she and the church of Scientology could gain from Elvis' legacy financially. As an ex wife, who blackmailed her way into marriage in the first place, Priscilla had no rightful gains from Elvis' estate yet managed to amass herself a neat nestegg of $50m from "managing" Lisa's inheritance as a "trustee" even after Lisa was an adult. Please stop slandering Elvis based on the lies of a gold digger who targeted and exploited him and then lied to the world after his death to paint herself as a victim instead of the predator she is!

I was born about the time the Elvis thing was exploding. I never thought much about him, mostly because we children were not allowed to watch him on TV or listen to his music. I never knew why, but I remember my dad saying "there's a lot of singers with better voices." Imagine my shock when I went to my first sleep-over at about 8 years old and discovered my friend's bedroom plastered with huge posters of Elvis. While tucking us in, her mom proudly pointed out the one of Elvis with Priscilla holding their baby. I was mesmerized by this alternate universe - these people were obsessed! Later, on a few occasions, they would invite me over when an Elvis movie was going to play on TV, with the understanding that neither I nor they would mention that part of the sleep-over to my parents! Then I started to GET "Elvis." As for the age thing, I sometimes think we are meant to get caught up in numbers, rather than emotional intelligence and accountability. We live in a predatory environment/economy so we need to learn discernment. I sometimes think we worship ours "stars" so much because we hope for just a few who were being spoon-fed by the predatory system and were somehow not affected. The predatory media has been pushing the boundaries of youth obsession for a very long time.
