He chews gum because he has a throat condition guys.. Without the menthol , while he is singing his chords would swell up and he wouldn't be able to even talk. So he has to constantly be chewing the strong menthol gum while he preforms. he has LITERALLY told me this in person haha

Is this an internal struggle , a fight for his own survival, the identity, a mental 'illness' relaltive term of course> FOr me, that is what it is, I suffer from lack of oxygen and it cuased me to lose myself, I fought hard , 6 years in fact to regain my identity

One thing i love about Breaking Benjamin's acoustics is that they don't "soften it it", they just play it on an acoustic guitar haha, this band is fucking amazing!

Hate to break this to you but they absolutely do use autotune when playing live and when doing studio recordings. There’s a live show they did with Gavin Rossdale where they covered an Alice In Chains song, and it’s very noticeable. Also, if you listen to the master vocal stems that are on KZfaq you can hear the plug-in Melodyne from Celemony all over them, which is another form of autotune.

All of these idiots stating that Benjamin uses auto-tune clearly don't understand that rock bands and metal bands don't even have the word(s) in their dictionaries. Benjamin has an array of conditions despite him being an incredibly talented musician and singer with an ostentatious vocal range. This isn't auto-tune, it's beauty, and he's amazing.

Loяd Jiиxx Almost every band, or artist since the introduction of Pitch Correct have used it in studio albums, and that is ok for the sake of correcting parts that aren't "perfect" so the singer doesn't have to do multiple takes (usually in order to save time/money). When Pitch Correct was abused like a red headed step child it became known as auto-tune, it's just Pitch correct to the extreme and usually limited to the key of the song so it sounds robotic. Has Ben used Pitch Correct on albums? Yes, every single one. Is that bad? No. Does that mean he cant sing or isn't talented? No. It's just a studio production tool. And yes both auto-tune and pitch correct can be used in live concerts. So everyone should stop arguing about it and only be mad that it has become an overused gimmick in "pop" music and a sad crutch for "rock". I hope this clears up some things, with that said I hope the new album is good.

It's not pitch correct, pitch perfect or auto tune at this show. I was there. The only shit on his rack was for guitar. If it sounds weird or 'mechanical' like someone said, the audio was probably loaded mp3, so it'll always have that sound. Benjamin Burnley does do it just like this. The gum is for his throat condition and chord swelling.

Don’t think he’s using auto tune. But being in a music business class, and being that it’s so common in the industry, it wouldn’t surprise me if there was a slightly softer vocal track under him singing live since his voice sounds a bit under the weather(guess from his vocal infection at this point)
