If you ask me, you can still find a ton of extremely real stuff like this from newer artists. The trend though is selling a brand via music, and it has gotten so out of control that a lot of what’s popular doesn’t strive for permanence.

I’ve actually had a cleaner voice my whole life and worked at this for a while. Sing often and record yourself. As you do it, your voice will get stronger and you can lean into the grittier textures without the fatigue that makes it hard starting out. Good breath support from your diaphragm and vocal compression are the keys. Good luck!

I manually tune it with vari-audio inside of cubase and then have autotune on for the character it adds. I go back and fourth between the UAD real-time advanced and EFX depending on the day.
