Introducing 'Breaking Bread' by Gabriel Faatau’uu-Satiu, a Sāmoan web series developed through the 'Pacific Noir' incubator program, which is a partnership of Information & Cultural Exchange and Pasifika Film Fest.
'Breaking Bread' is a fictional series inspired by true events. The series focuses on one family as they navigate their way through relationships, hardships, happiness and the mysterious family curse.'
Each of our episodes are framed by a traditional Sāmoan method. Our pilot begins with Fāgogo, an old Sāmoan storytelling method known as a form of performance art.

SOOOO GOOOOOD!!!! Love seeing our people on screen! And shed a few tears for the gathering at the table. Both my Nanas were the matriarchs in my families and they've both passed on. Miss these fambam gatherings

The way I was cackling at that conclusion over the stove and her little smile. Loved the Last Supper vibes with the multicultural aiga around the table, too. Thank you for diversifying the stories available by and for our people.

The depiction of Mormon missionaries is an interesting one, somewhat fallacious, but I can appreciate the message that is on display. The claim of "Missionaries eating Sāmoan's" is a captivating one, perhaps some metaphorical/ conceptual/ word play on the colonial impacts Christianity had/ has and is having on Sāmoa, Sāmoan's, Gagana & Aganu'u Sāmoa? Or maybe there is some legitimacy to the claim? That'll be interesting. Loved the introductory scene of family having a meal, the incorporation of indigenous language, education, different family members and the all too familiar and relatable family personalities. Definitely some great thought provoking concepts on the writer/ director and team's part. I look forward to watching more, well done guys! A great pilot episode, Ia manuia!!

Mormon missionaries ALWAYS wear a tie! when serving ! That is my one criticism, no Morman can relate to this version portrayed unfortunately. . . . . apart from that, great work , magia lou galuega x x alofa tele and where is my next script for Sa'ili Gabe?? 😎
