Buck Showalter should absolutely be in the Hall of Fame. A great baseball mind.

Agreed. I worry though that he'll only be remembered for his one high-profile brain fart and not for being as great a manager as he is.

the MOMENT the Mets hired Showalter, I knew they would be automatic contenders. I highly expect the Dodgers and Mets to fight it out for the Pennant.

You bring your game to another level if you can think and anticipate. Better decisionmaking makes you a better player and open to make the most of any opportunity. Applies to everything in life.

Hi Anto. Hope that your high school season is going well. Was asked this season to be an assistant coach at the school where I teach. Had done it for years, but took a few years off a while back. It is nice being back.

Buck sounds alot like late Roger Nelson. Former NHL hockey coach who relentlessly studied the rule book and manipulated it to his advantage.

Can you please do a video on drug and alcohol use and abuse in MLB? I don't ask for names, just, is it prevalent? Are there players on their way out of the league that have nothing to lose and decide to use, sell or abuse drugs? Thanks, sir for your videos.

The analysis of the rule is correct, but that's not what happened in the Diamondbacks/Mets game. A "play" is defined as a legitimate attempt by the defense to retire a runner. Merely running at a runner with the ball is not a play. The pitcher stopped and allowed the runner to take second so he could still appeal at third. The plate umpire ruled on the appeal that the runner had not left third base early. Under high school rules, the defense does not lose its ability to appeal if it attempts a live ball appeal and tries to put out a runner trying to steal on the play.
@AntonelliBaseball
@AntonelliBaseball 2 жыл бұрын
It’s an interesting rule. So running at the runner would not be a “play”. He would have had to thrown the ball to someone to make it a play? Or attempt a tag himself? There seems to be a lot of gray area. I saw the umpire give the safe call, so I was confused as well. I do still like the thought process of the Mets
@RyanRobbins007
@RyanRobbins007 2 жыл бұрын
@@AntonelliBaseball There is some gray area. For example, runner on first. Grounder to the shortstop. He tries to beat R1 to second but realizes he won't be able to force him out, so he throws to first and the ball goes out of play. The attempt to beat R1 to second would be a play, so the ball being thrown out of play would be the second play by a fielder; the runners would be awarded bases based on their positions at the time of throw instead of the time of the pitch. But in another scenario, the shortstop could run toward second and simply change his mind and throw to first. His throw would be considered to be the first play by an infielder. The questions are "Is the fielder really trying to put the runner out? Has he abandoned his attempt because it wouldn't be successful or because he has changed his mind?"

Mets are winning games without their best pitcher. The Mets will even scarier when they get a healthy deGrom back. But everyone knows,in order for Mets to be World Series contenders.....They need to stay healthy. LFGM!!!!

Madden was far from a genius with the cubs… from 16 until the end it was a complete mess… we won despite his managing in 16, in 17 the lineup was such a shit show… far far far from genius

Maddon was fine in-season. Truthfully, he probably got his marching orders from the front office a lot more than we know. His strength was managing people, handling a Chicago media, and reading the room…his playoff managing was awful though.
