Solid assessment. Fingers crossed OBJ and Jonnu help create chaos for the defense. More so, that Coach can deliver with a dynamic scheme and play calling. Looking forward to a winning season

@@AlexVenuseit wasn't just those 2 it was ALL OF THE KEY INJURIES!!! 6-9 Pro Bowlers out for the season, 3rd string INTERIOR OLINE vs Bills, Ravens, Cheifs STARTING DEFENSES because of the 3rd string INTERIOR OLINE it prevented the Dolphins # 1 running game from running the football against the Bills,Ravens,Cheifs because of their defenses and our 3rd string INTERIOR OLINE Dolphins running game wasnt there, the defensive ends Phillips and Chubb 26 sacks combined out for the season also out for the season, INJURIES WERE THE CAUSE WHY THE DOLPHINS LOST TO THE Bills, Ravens, Cheifs, and even Josh Allen said something on his pod cast about the Dolphins injuries with the Dolphins DEs Phillips and Chubb and after the Dolphins Playoff game Mahomes asked Tua how were they able to play through all of those injuries like that and Tua said it was all heart and tapped Mahomes on his chest.

26:59 that little sidearm half step back throw where only Achane would be able to get the ball was just as nice as Achane showing the ability to read and react to that situation and put himself where he had to be on that play. That was a beautiful play all around from those two.

Kind of looked like it was a set play because Tua actually threw the ball anticipating where Achane would be. If it was on the fly that’s definitely impressive from both of them being on the same page.

So this was my first video watching you, of course because I am a die-hards Miami dolphins fan and I love the fact that you were so just stayed out of it with your feelings and just told what you seen makes you amazing to listen to. The problem with football players and listening to analyst is sometimes the analyst won't use their heads and they use their hearts and they don't want to tell the truth or they don't want to see the truth because they are a fan of the player, not a fan of the team. Not saying two is a bad quarterback but I definitely don't think he has the sauce, especially if we were to pay him a big contract and have to rid our roster of big salary names just to patua

Tua is the best QB to wear a Dolphins uniform ever not named Dan Marino. You can't name me a better QB ever, ever, ever, ever who could wear Tua's jock strap. Griese isn't shit compared to Tua. Wow you must be 7 years old and don't have any knowledge of what this franchise has gone threw since Marino searching for the next one. I can't believe a "Dolphins Fan" would say I wouldn't pay this QB who has been in the MVP race the last 2 years, Lead the NFL in passing yards, is already in the Hall of Fame with his WR Jaylen Waddle just to name a few of his accolades? Really? What would you pay him huh? coffee money? Thank Goodness your idiot arse isn't the GM or Owner. I like the host of this show, it's idiots like you who read stuff into everything to make your argument. The host didn't say a bad thing about Tua. Didn't say don't pay him. Didn't say we should move on. You read that in your twisted conspiracy, mouthing everyone else's words but your own until it becomes doctrine. Die-Hard Dolphins Fan? Really? Where?

Hilariously Eli Apple got the Josh Allen INT solely because he was standing by himself on one side of the endzone, as the receiver was already well across his face and 5 yards across the endzone, and Josh threw the ball 5 yards behind his receiver, dead into Eli Apples chest plate, and then what does that dufus do? Stands back up, and then runs clean out of the endzone and put the dolphins on the 4 yard line. When it should’ve been a touchback to the 20. 🤦🏽‍♂️.

Great breakdown. The video felt like it was 10 minutes long I was so engaged. I'm looking forward to more, even during the regular season would be stellar. Your viewpoints showcase what's hard to see watching games live most of the time (especially when I'm cursing at the screen). "a waste of a helmet and pads" will be my new expression, thanks. Miami's unanswered question remains: is the play calling the issue (coordinators, coaches), or is it the lack of ability in certain areas that limit the play calling options? (center field passing, run game, and deep balls) We'll know for sure at the end of this year, and that's concerning. I've been a Miami fan since I could walk but I've had multiple decades of heartache watching them be so close, and have most of the tools, but fail to execute in the big games season after season, especially against the Bills. Can this warm weather team ever win in cold weather late in the season? Sometimes I wish they'd get a cold weather practice space in early December to be on par with the rest of the AFC temperature acclimation. Subbed.

Patrick Richard was in a “3 point stance”. That’s the proper term for an offensive player being in that stance and aligning attached to the formation like that. A 3 technique is a defensive tackle positioning that Christian Wilkins is a good example of. 3 tech defensive ends usually line up between the guard and the tackle.

32:53 isn't a counter it's actually like Miami's outside Zone run but, the front side is collapsed by Wilkins. You see the LBs full speed outside cause of this. It's an Error by Eli Apple as he becomes a run fit player for cutback runs and he doesn't move when given a run read. I had a similar play vs FAU and if you see my reaction that's the way you play it. You can also see it's a poor coaching play as they are massively outnumbered in the box. The coverage doesn't have to change but they should at least align their safeties to even up the numbers in the box so explosive runs can be limited to more manageable gains while still protecting against the pass.

The Jets game is when it really started for me, that’s when Holland managed to sprain both his knees on one play, and JP tore his Achilles tendon. Then the titans game I think it was Baker & Tyreek got hurt, then the Dallas game a lot of guys played but not in good shape at all. Then like half the remaining defense got knocked out between the Ravens & Bills games, all the DE/OLB, the back up OLBs, the ILB, the backup ILB, the #2 CB, #1 S, and that’s just the defense starters knocked out from basically 3 games, with a clean game squeezed in the middle somewhere

Mike McD seems to have some sort of OCD at work. He changes things late in games (abandoning the run) & late in seasons. It's as if he suddenly thinks the plays that have worked up 'til then are conspiring against him so he shuts them out. The Dolphins start hot, go into a lull where they seem to just stall, then almost return before collapsing. & it seems to be the play-calling.

I really appreciated your analysis. Thank you. Riley is a backup thrust into the starting lineup, as were so many at the end of the year. I think that is why they were not sharp on offense or defense at the end of the season, and I hate to make excuses. Your point of why Cam Smith wasn't playing instead of Eli Apple is spot on. He couldn't be worse and needs some playing time. I like Tua, but his infatuation with Tyreek at times hurts the Fins.

21:14 I think that may be a mesh play concept. Everyone runs it. A lot. I think Tua just misread it because he was frustrated with how poorly the defense was playing and the guys on offense weren’t really doing a ton better.
@KevinDorsi
@KevinDorsi Ай бұрын
I think the fact that Miami's offense (both run and pass) is very splash play oriented with a large boom or bust element. Fangio's defense was more of a bend dont break, grind it out style. The combination of these 2 units often resulted in the D being on the field WAY too much and the offense being put in too many long fields in terms of starting field position. That absolutely killed them late in the year imo.
@indade
@indade Ай бұрын
Xs and Os tells a different story than narratives, media, and content creators. Brings to light how fundamental the trenches are, beyond QB talk. Also, when looking back at the all 22, we have to keep in mind that the offense requires the QB to do most of their reads pre-snap because post-snap, you’ve got a 2sec window. An offense built around a leaky OLine anchors what that offense can do.
@AlexVenuse
@AlexVenuse Ай бұрын
Exactly that. And that’s why I’m doing these videos because I want to understand the nuances of wins and losses, and what really caused them. Rather than ‘Tua can’t win a playoff game’, and leaving it at that, let’s watch the film and figure it out together 🤝

14:27 if im choosing between the best receiver in the league and an average to below average kick returner at receiver, and i know im hitting the best receiver in the hands cleanly in the endzone, im never targeting anyone else. The best receiver in the NFL is getting that pass every time. He’s gonna have to prove his hands are worthy of that title, “Best in the League”. That’s just how I feel about that. If it was someone like OBJ, or Waddle, or even Cracraft, who I’ve seen make clutch plays in this system or on this team, then maybe I would consider changing my mind on that. But if it’s Tyreek vs Berrios, I’m not wasting my time thinking about that one or worrying about it if it isn’t caught in that situation. But I’m def looking at Reek and asking him what the hell is wrong with his hands. 😂

I came into the comments to say close to the same thing... spending 30-45 seconds talking about how Tua should have thrown the out to WR4 vs the Wide Open straight down the middle of the field (Tua's wheelhouse) to WR1? It's an answer with no question... at least none that makes sense as Tyreek was no-where near the bottom end of the league in drop% - it was his highest year, but also his highest # of targets.

Haven't finished video yet. But you have some good analysis, enjoy it so far. Just gonna throw out some ideas/points I see or think 10:56 generally called a "pick play" but those are technically illegal now lol. The idea is to get the outside defender to turn his hips inside and run him into the defender scrambling to the outside of the field to cover the receiver, or in this case the running back, running the wheel. Either just to get in his way for a second to slow him down a step or two, or to actually cause a collision while making it look like you were innocently running a route haha. They used to call it a pick play because back in the older days of football, the receiver could come screaming down the line and obliterate the defender (or "pick" them off as they used to say) covering the wheel (or route being run behind). I still remember watching an ex dolphin coincidentally, Jarvis Landry run pick plays. Straight menace out there. Murdering dudes constantly. I think he actually broke a dudes neck one time, against buffalo? Anyways it's a very common type of play, literally everyone has their own versions of it now. It actually came from the college game 13:30 I think this one was actually a pre snap kind of decision. They had wide safeties, nobody in the middle in the endzone, he's throwing that thing so quick. Most of their plays are supposed to be read outside - in. Pre snap it looks like everyone is man up. But no safety help on Tyreek. I would take that throw before the snap 99% of the time too I think lol 20:16 spot on with all of this. Going to the well way too many times. You can't fool a guy that good for that long before he makes you pay
@AlexVenuse

I always said Tua is not the issue, sure he does stiffen but once every game is not too bad, maybe twice , and if Mike can have Waddle out there it would of helped those plays because the other WR’s we had beside Ty couldn’t get open one on one . I mean even though Reek dropped and he did cost us a lot down the stretch but , Mike needed him and so did the team and sure he had a few guys on him at times but he put us in bad spots at the end . When you break the plays down you see Tyreek can only run that one route really . Seems like anything else tyreek may be running it wrong . That’s scary . But again , the other thing with the WR’s, extending plays just doesn’t happen , they don’t even try to break free like Ravens and Bills . And I’m not a fan of Fangio either. If he was actually coaching these guys would know who to cover . I mean , if he really went on the field and got in them let them know hey these 3 plays go like this, maybe then they would do better but it seemed like the same mistakes over and over and Vic was nowhere. Eagles will see .. Hopefully we get just enough from OBJ to break those plays and he’s gonna see Tua is right on the money . We will be kicking ourselves if we don’t sign him . I think if Tyreek can get on the same wavelength, which I think they cover for him because he can’t learn as fast but he has speed so they accept it , but with teams that do have good defenses tyreek doesn’t seem to be in it . Only Dallas and that was hard enough . I believe we see why K.C let him go. Not because he can’t play , he can’t get it right when it matters as a number 1 target. He needs a decoy and maybe OBJ or Smith will help this along . Will get the smart DB’s to have to extend out more and create space .

Although this was a hard watch for me, going through all of that again, it was a really great and informative analysis and I agree with all points you made. But it`s still hard to point fingers (except Apple, maybe) and figure out who to blame. There were many injuries, Tyreek wasn`t at his best and even if I may have been a little bit to hard on Tua after seeing it all again now I would still argue that your franchise QB is the one that should be able to make it work in this moments. It`s unfortunate when everybody drops your balls, but alone within the last set of downs there are at least two decisions from Tua I don`t like, which you also pointed out. And Mike McDaniel also had his fair share of strange play calls, the more the older the season got. So, all in all that were team losses, also heavily influenced by injuries. But I`m also not fully convinced that Tua can take this team to a superbowl in a strech against tough opponents. I hope he can and I hope he will, but I`m not sure he is able to.....

This is a great point. In both of these games, the team faltered, the play calling was off and mistakes were made all over the field. You compare that to the Lions film I watched and the two were worlds away. The cohesion of their offense looked miles away from where Miami were at in these two games. Either way, I love this process of trying to understand exactly what went wrong rather than reading headlines and hot takes. Thanks for your feedback man, I appreciate you!

@23:38 - the Tua pick over Tyreek's head... how can we know that Tua missed Hill vs Hill ran the wrong route? I love this content and look forward to see a follow-up after comments.... but Tua is so accurate, I would assume Tyreek ran the wrong route - which he's admitted to a few times.... he goes more post on his break and the ball is on his face. Remember, Tua's starting his release before Tyreek makes his break - so it's not like he knows Tyreek is going to break in/drop his route, he's throwing to where Tyreek should end up.

36:01......Just yuck! This beyond awful pursuit and angles. Eli Apple should've been benched after this play cause that's not a physical error but rather a mental one. Dumb football players will lose you games more often than win them for you.

Yeah this one is so basic there’s not really much else to say about it. But giving up half the field because you can’t hold outside contain at the NFL level is so frustrating 🙃

I must have done a decent job hiding my fandom (that was intentional I wanted this video to be purely objective), but I am in fact a huge Dolphins fan. Watched every snap brother 😂🤝

It wasn't a lack of ideas, it was a lack of execution from our depth pieces in conjunction with Mcdaniel struggling with post-Halftime adjustments

He certainly had his moments, but his receivers didn’t help him out in these games in the slightest

Sir please watch this video before you go around making statements like ‘defense played well’ 😂 this is exactly why I made this video, so we don’t make silly blanket statements!
