Brandy shares a personal story of how a 8 year old girl who felt abandonment begin her healing process because of the birth of her own daughters as an adult. She challenges the ideas and practices of generations before her, to show up for her younger self all while being conscious enough to raise daughters intentionally. The 8 year old girl as an adult makes amends with her younger self and encourages the audience to do the same! “Going back to the place in which I was wronged as a child, and telling her ‘I’m sorry that happened to you.’” Thank you for this. I can’t explain what this did for me as soon as I heard it.

3 Minutes in I can relate tremendously. The birth of my first daughter at 21 was so pivotal, never did I experience a love for another being the way I did when I first saw her. Forget "puppy love" boyfriends or "best friends", my daughter was the beginning of my healing journey and she has not a clue. I saw her look at me like I had never seen anyone look at me. She looked at me like I was the best thing God put on earth . At 21 I had such a low self esteem (of course I didnt realize it then), how could this baby think that of me. It opened up my eyes to see that I had in fact been in an emotionally abusive relationship with her biological father. She saved my life. Now, here, 8 years later I realize God put her in my life to remind me of all the suffering or traumatic moments I had experienced as a child in order to pave a new life for her and ensure she got what she deserved, the space to blossom and grow into WHATEVER makes her life fulfilling. Thank you for sharing this!

took me awhile to get to this video, but the moral of the story is generational pain runs so deep its internalized in order to survive. we fear whippings so much that we become tramatized from the degree of punishment over reward. ask the reason why? help strengthen within

Dammm. I can relate sooo much. I am feeling and reliving every single word of hers. The - " I was getting triggered when I saw my husband being the best one. Because "I" Wanted that". Sooo true. I get trigger when I see my brother being the best Dad to her daughter. Coz I wanted that. Nd I didn't got that. That triggers me like anything while I love my neice with all my heart 🙏🙏

7:50 There is no scientific consensus so far that epigenetics plays any significant part in cross generational trauma, let alone in a way that resembles ADHD, ODD, or bipolar (what???). We are in the very early days of understanding the consequences and extent of epigenetics. It _might_ cause extensive symptoms, but she should _not_ be this confident about this. We literally do not know these things yet. I think she's right about culturally transmitted trauma across generations, but the epigenetics stuff is bs and she should know better.
