ClarenceTheShark Its exactly that its Similar to fire brick which is often used to line kilns, furnaces ect it reflects heat so the items inside the safe are protected from fire steel is good for its high melting temp but it still gets hot so the refractory material helps insulate the hot steel from the internal lining and contents
