1. 200 kyats pack is roasted peanuts with some garlic. 2. You need to pay 200 Kyats for taxis to enter the bus terminal, brother. That's the enterance fee. If you don't give 200 for enterance, you have to spend around 10 to 15 mins to arrive your bus line. 3. The guy in white entering into your taxi is the small scale bus ticket brokers. For us locals, they are annoying. But for some who don't know how to get tickets, they can be very useful. 4. Most locals don't understand English and shy to speak English. So if you want to know some infos, ask some teenagers and drinking guys. 5. Do not drink publicly in Myanmar. There's a law. You could get arrested. A Local from Yangon, Myanmar.

Have been to Myanmar 4 or 5 times. Mostly during the previous military dictatorship, and once during their brief (recent) experience with freedom and democracy. The last time I went was during their new year water festival (Thingyan) when Aung San Suu Kyi was in power. It was the first time I saw the people truly happy and free. You could really see the difference. No people telling you 'don't take photos in that direction' or 'don't ask those questions' etc. Very sad to know how it's regressed again...

During this chaotic time, I'm very much appreciated that you paid a visit to Myanmar. I've been away from my home for more than two years since May 2021. I can se a glimpse of situation in your video. I can see that people are still living in fear but still show their smiling face to the foreigner. Don't worry they are not going to rip you off but always ready to offer help when needed. And they won't ask for tip LIKE IN the US even they would give the best extra service. It's a shame to invite a guest while the host itself is in bad shape. I wish you don't visit there again until we restore our freedom. It's the worst time.

Myanmar, aka Burma, is my favorite country. If you think you had problems you should have been there in the late 1990s. Two weeks visa, no Internet, no nothing. All Kyat exchange on the illegal black market and unusable for hotels, etc. In my humble opinion, the people are infinitely kinder than in Thailand, a place I grew up in in the 50s but seemed to sour with tourism and materialism. The adage, you never have enough comes to mind. The often jerk taxi drivers that told you you had to go to the far away bus station, near the airport were steering you wrong. Exactly opposite the train station is where you can buy bus tickets, a multitude of kiosks. I’ve only bought for the Shan State and Mandalay but I’m sure Bagan tickets were available. They discontinued the free shuttle to the bus station, however. Years ago I tried to see or meet Aung San Sun Kyi in the outskirts of downtown. The street was barricaded with barbed wire but I strolled through while the cops weren’t paying attention. They eventually saw me and vigorously directed me to get out. Years ago and more so today in the tea shops, which are omnipresent, people would love to talk politics but they were very careful, looking around to check out the people in the shop. I love Myanmar, visiting in about 7 times, for the very fact that it hasn’t been globalized. Unfortunately, it’s led to what was once the richest SE Asian country into being the poorest. However, and hopefully not being insensitive, I wonder how much happier the far richer Thais are. They don’t seem to be. Thanks for your videos. You’re quite savvy.

It’s my favourite country. The people I met were so wonderful. I’m still in touch with some of them. I went there the first time in 2007 and loved every minute of it. I had to change money on the black market in a doorway near a bus station and there were no ATM’s or banks I could use. Internet cafes with clever ways around restrictions with email etc. travel was limited but wonderful. The 2nd time I visited was early 2020 just before the pandemic lockdowns and I could travel much further and even on the trains. This time I could change money legally at money change shops and banks. Things were so great. It makes me so sad to see how it is now. I hope things change for the beautiful people of Myanmar/Burma. ❤️🙏

Actually, these taxi drivers were not steering him wrong. The ticket stations at the opposite side of the railway station were already closed for almost a year, so on that time if you want to go to Bagan, you only have to go to aung min ga lar station which is quite far from there around 40-60min drive on traffic condition. Hey anyway, come again to Myanmar after all these terrorism gone. From burma with loves.

I'm a 10 year old from Myanmar. I was only 7 or 8 when the coup began. I used to protest a lot, even skipping school sometimes. Once, I witnessed a baby get shot out of a pregnant woman's stomach. The coup really changed the lives of people here. The police don't care about the citizens. The activity has died down a bit but it's still very dangerous. People here are trying to communicate to foreigners but most of them don't know English. It leads to younger teens and kids having to spread awareness. Anyways, stay safe when you're travelling, especially when you're visiting a country like Myanmar.

I took the JJ Express night bus from Yangon to Bagan in October 2023 - as always the Burmese were extremely helpful. This bus drives straight through in both directions a few times per week - with just a few stops. Also stopped a few times at roadblocks and boarded by armed police ..locals all showed their id cards, but I was completely ignored every time - the invisible man. Life for locals under the regime is very tense. Its gotten even worse - peace, prosperity and happiness to the wonderful people of Myanmar ! 🙏

Visited Burma in 1978. At the time the visa was valid for only 7 days. Any over stay meant jail time and a fine. Had to make sure I was back in the capitol a day early. Rangoon was fascinating, especially the Shwedagon Pagoda. Was surprises to see so many people jogging and exercising in the early morning hours. Seeing the Three Stooges listed in the TV Guide at the hotel was also quite shocking. Before arrival, one stopped in the Duty Free Shop in Bangkok and purchased 2 cartons of 555 cigarettes and one 4/5 bottle of Johnny Walker Black (Not Red!). The total came to about the equivalent of $ US 20. These were exchanges with the Taxi driver at Rangoon Airport for the equivalent of 70 Burmese Chat or enough to fund an entire one week stay in Burma. Took the train to Pagan and had a wonderful exploring the many temples on a bicycle rented for the family I was staying with. One of the train stops introduced me to one of my favorite fruits: Mangosteens (no, not mangoes). Burma was one of my most favorite countries in Asia.

I was there in the brief democratic period between Juntas. The people are so gentle and beautiful and my heart goes out to them. The Shwedagon pagoda in the center of Yangon is my favorite place in the world. I spend most of my time between Ireland, Thailand and China these days but Myanmar will always be in my heart. The biggest issue I had was money, as there were no ATM's and we were hassled by government workers wanting me to use their inflated services. Honestly the people were great, but it was just too hard work and was glad to see the back of the place. I am not 100 percent sure about my opinion on how you can't get a train ticket but i think they don't wanna let foreigners get hurt in the train mining. Resistance forces sometimes mine the trains which are military supplies trains and solders carrying passenger trains rather than civilian train. But they also mine some passenger train if the military personnels and important military people take the normal passenger train. So if a foreigner like you get injured or worse, their military junta government would be pounded by international countries which might even ended in UN intervention for not having a secure government.

Lol. No. That may be part of it but it's also about preventing foreigners from spreading foreign ideas to the people...the Burmese government is very xenophobic and paranoid. They don't welcome western influences.

believe me most scammers in myanmar are near pagoda. they will charge you extra but u can always try to lower the price. the snacks are made of fruits. they are sour and help you stay refreshed in hot weather. the wheel tapping his him checking whether the bus tire air pressure is good or not. the grapes are right price.

The Rohingya have suffered decades of violence, discrimination and persecution in Myanmar. Their largest exodus began in August 2017 after a massive wave of violence broke out in Myanmar’s Rakhine State, forcing more than 700,000 people - half of them children - to seek refuge in Bangladesh. Entire villages were burned to the ground, thousands of families were killed or separated and massive human rights violations were reported.

I am burmese and I went to japan and still in japan because of 2021 crisis. It wasn't like that before military seize power (time and time again) almost a decade we were doing great. It was safe to go all night long, no electricity outage, business and job opportunties flourished. Now we went back to where we were before 10 years ago under military regime. It's so sad to see your own military who sworn to protect you is killing you. The extend of that mad man greed is just horrifying, disgusting. I will spit on his grave when his time comes.

P.S. the bus station brings back memories, last there last December. The VIP buses have two and one rows which are good for single travelers. There are lots of military checkpoints but foreigners tend to exaggerate the “dictatorship” as far as curfews. Meaning, if you’re not a journalist or a local dissident there’s not a problem. And I was never “terrified” when the police/military checked ID’s. They were usually polite and courteous. Better than in Guatemala during their civil war and all males had to step out of the bus. I imagined if one ran the bullets would fly. Don’t know exactly when you were there but the buses stop at great, a little pricy eateries along the way. Pee bottles should be colored to disguise the contents. And preferably wide mouth.

Yeah, you're right the foreigners are exaggerating the dictatorship. In my state, there was no protest when the military took over and everything is going well except the inflation due to US sanctions.
