But, just by birthrate and death rate alone, there is a large different in population growth. Lots of things to take into consideration regarding how many per year is appropriate. I think most politicians these days are looking at the number of workers vs the number of people on retirement social security as well as disability social security. So you would need to look at the number of people immigrating who are working vs how many working people are retiring or dying also. I think there needs to be a balance. What are our resources available per population (natural resources, infrastructure, social services) and what is the extraction and building rate for those resources. Quality of life and what is the current social and moral outlook of citizens vs those migrating here need to be taken into account also.

Well yeah, politicians have to look at what's going on with social security because if they don't replace the base of the pyramid scheme they have created, people might notice that politicians in every single western country have been stealing from the retirement accounts. Retirement accounts were supposed to compensate for inflation through interest rates and investing-- and every penny was supposed to go back into the accounts. Instead, politicians allocated that money to the government slush fund. Having resources doesn't mean you have to allow foreigners into your country. Especially since that has an impact of birth rates. So does the fact that the economy has been going downhill for decades at least. At this point our GDP consists of 40% government spending. But it's fine. Our food and water supplies are poisoned. GL to the invaders coming in, cause they're stuck eating it too.
