Congratulations! It is a sad and Joyful thing when a TRUE TEACHER retires. True teachers who do it for the love of the kids are rare. Unfortunately the current environment and the changing curriculum is making it to hard. It is hard to teach without a true relationship. Prayers for you and all who will never know your love and kindness.

I want Lester to always remember that his teaching never stopped when he left that school. How many of us learned a thing or two from his "ramblings"? Lester taught children in school, but he teaches all of us something every day. Whether it be something about life, the farm, or just gives us a little pick-me-up when we're down. Or if he needs to vent and we can sympathize, he reminds us that we're all human. We make mistakes, we hurt, we forgive, we move on. We deal with things... and I've watched so many of these videos that I can think of quite a few videos that fit. Teaching runs through his blood... and he can't help but teach. It's not his job, it's his life. So whether you're in a classroom, in a store, or just a random viewer of his videos, he has a lesson for you. Thank you Mr. Morrow.

@@shalakruep After looking up 'paraprofessional' I just learned that I did that starting 45 years ago! I was a supervisor teaching and working with handicapped adults for over 12 years. It was the best job I ever had. I believe that they taught me more than I ever taught them! When the 'professionals' demanded that we stop joking around with our people, to de-escalate a bad situation that was brewing, I left. We were told that using humor was not good for them. An RN, After 26 years, I retired 3 years ago. I feel like it has taken me this long to decompress from that hectic lifestyle. Giving of my self every work day to patients & families & co-workers, getting thanks or smirks or hugs in return. I thoroughly enjoyed 1:1 & teaching in small groups. Sometimes I forget I was a nurse, until my elderly parents asks something about medication, or wound care. It's a process, for sure & certain!

But my heart goes out to all the students that are missing the bond with the teachers due to this pandemic. School is a refuge for a lot of children, due to uncertainties at home. I know your decision was not an easy one but I truly understand. But on the positive side, you'll be able to spend so much more time at the sanctuary with the animals. They will be spoiled even more. So I wish you all of the best. And thank you ❤️

I'm happy for all of the animals who will get even more time with 'Dad' as well as Lex and L.E., and Jami, too. I am just guessing here, but when the former students of your school are asked the inevitable question "Who was your favorite teacher ever?" they will quickly, without any hesitation whatsoever answer, "Mr. Morrow, of course!". To educate, encourage, and entertain teenagers and leave such a positive experience and impression on them is NOT something that comes easily for most. My mom and grandma were bus drivers for 20 plus years . I pray Lester that schools go back to permit in glass teaching. You and many very great teachers need as much as the kids a glass room relationship.

Being a retired school bus driver and bus dispatcher, I so get what you are saying. We drive these kids everyday morning and night. We are the first person they see in the morning and the last person they see at night from the school district. We sometimes set the pace for their entire day. I have many Facebook friends that I have transported throughout the years when they were kids. I follow these kids, some friends of my own grown children. I relish watching them become responsible adults and having successful careers. Then becoming parents and now some are experiencing their own kids graduating from school and attending college. Those are the friendships I treasure as you will too. I wish you well on this new journey in your life. Now you will be able to make more videos of your farm kids!

I totally get it! I’m so happy for you. I am an educator and I am planning on retiring at the end of this year after 18 years. I was wanting to leave before COVID because of many things going wrong with education but COVID has pushed me over the edge. Enjoy retirement 💗

Lester, the animals are lucky to have you & you are lucky to have them! It seems to me that you are a teacher wherever you are..you've taught me a lot just from the farm! So I think you will always be a fabulous teacher even though your not in a classroom. I wish you well!! "Every new beginning comes from some other beginnings end."

Wow! That was emotional and just from those few clips I can see what a wonderful teacher and person you are. I can understand that the view from the desk has changed and when you know it’s time to move on, you know. You will enjoy driving that bus even more know, seeing all those kids but not having to do any homework yourself! I wish you all the best and enjoy every moment Lester - your boys, Jamie and family will all love having you home more xx

I would have loved to have a teacher like you. I loved your “speech” at the end of the video. I’m 54 now and I have memories of some of my teachers (as far back as Pre-school) that truly left their marks on my soul. Have a great retirement (from teaching). I am excited to see (hopefully) more videos of the farm and all the animals.

Congratulations Lester for knowing what you need to do to keep happy and healthy. The kids will love that you’re still driving the bus so the can still interact with you. If in the future you decide you might want to go back be a substitute teacher and only do it when you want to . If you decide you don’t want to go back then you know you did the right thing for you.

Good for you.... I wish I could retire myself, even tho I'm not old enough for retirement as well, "I have three yrs to go! " still won't be at that age " retirement " I am a very paranoid person, I feel like this pandemic has dramatically drained me (like many others). Best of luck on your new adventures 💕💕💕

Wow! Thanks for sharing. How exciting ... A new season for you. It's smart to recognize and stay true to what works for you Lester. So many times people who no longer love their work, remain because they feel they have to or for their retirement benefits and they become stale. You're smart!

I feel the same and I am doing the same thing but I am already in preretirement. July 22 my last day after 34 years. I grew up on a farm I know the work that it is involved. I never knew how you do it. This year is my hardest. I feel pretty much spot on to what you are saying. Enjoy doing you.
