It is normally hard to suspend belief when a massive star in another field is trying to play fictional role. However, Taylor Swift embodies the character of Allison Blair/ Dazzler. It actually is the perfect casting

It would absolutely make sense. Marvels original plan for Dazzler was to CREATE a popstar with Casablanca records , and release an album along w a comic and an eventual movie, using swift would bring the original plan pretty much back as it was meant to be

I mean there’s that, but I think it’s more that just that cuz she’s good friends with Ryan and his wife. Ryan is always bringing his friends in his movies (Brad Pitt in DP2) She wrote a song about their kids. Taylor seems to have a similar sense of humor like Ryan does (a lot of self deprecating, poking fun at themselves) so I could see him ripping on her in the movie and she would be down for that.

I think sometimes ppl hate on Taylor Swift just to hate on her. I’m a fan of hers, but I’m also a huge mcu fan. I think it’s cool she’ll be in the MCU, but I don’t think swifties will take over the theaters for a glimpse of her cameo. Will some fans buy a ticket just to see her? Sure but I don’t think it will be as many as ppl are saying. They post that stuff online too. I know swifties did that with football and that’s where the argument is coming from, but i think that’s different. That was seeing her in real life not in a role, and I think some of her fans felt like they were watching a real life “love story” when trying to get a glimpse of her at the games to see her reacting to Travis and seeing them together. Of course there will always be the super die hards who show up to a movie they have 0 interest in watching just see just to see her, but remember they probably have curfews. So just go to a later showing 🤣

If they put a non musician in the role of dazzler I think imma have a harder time believing it…Dazzler is a superstar and a lot of times actors and actresses playing up to the musician often leave me disconnected…you either get believable…. Jamie Fox playing Ray or Jennifer Lopez playing Selena…or unbelievable Anthony mackie playing Tupac or the chick playing Amy winehouse…😅 anyways I think she’s gonna help the movie and not hurt it…she’s a decent enough actress…and dazzler isn’t a controversial character…no xmen fan is gonna get offended unless they made her the star of every movie….

I get what you’re saying; there are certain musicians that it is difficult to separate from their musical persona when we see them. Swift has had a few minor roles but it usually felt like stunt casting to me. A cameo in Deadpool works for that because it has that sort of humor but outside of it? Hopefully wherever she ends up she knocks it out of the park.

Not sure Harry Styles is a good example of what you're trying to explain. Before the Eternals, he was in Dunkirk (17). Since 2022 he's had leading roles in Don't Worry Darling & My Policeman. From what I've seen, Styles is a pretty good actor.

To even have a small role in Deadpool & Wolverine, one day's film work, she would've needed to take at least three days off her tour. She'd need to fly to Atlanta, do a day of rehearsal and blocking, film, and then fly back. She didn't have three days off like that while Deadpool & Wolverine was filming last year.

J Lo, Kris Kristofferson in three Blade movies, there are any number of multitalented performers (including Ewan McGregor, Hugh Jackman, Robert Downey Jr., Frank Sinatra, Will Smith, Cher etc.) that have both been excellent singers (and some very well known singers in there) and great actors that could take on a role and become it. Could this meeting just be about a follow-up cameo in Secret Wars? Seems late in the game to be the first meeting if she's in Deadpool & Wolverine, which seems to be the perfect movie to run into her in.

I would love to see her as Dazzler. What a perfect role. It isn't too far of a jump from her real life. Making it more realistic. I'm wondering what other character that could be considering her for? I loved this video. Thank you for sharing your opinion respectfully!

Xmen 2 united was my first marvel movie i watched. So glad to see Hugh back as the man who does the best at what he does but what he does isnt very nice!

It's one of the best choices in casting honestly haha I'd love a combo of her and Carly Rae Jepsen as Dazzler variants. Taylor at this moment is one of the best choices bc she's on top right now.

Taylor Swift playing Alison Blaire (Dazzler) makes sense - as a mutant rock/pop star, the character fits Taylor's skillet and persona. I agree that having a non-actor appearing in a role for the sake of drawing that celebrity's fans doesn't always work, though.
