My all-time favorite DT song. Glad they played 'Lie' right after, just like on Awake. First time I heard that, I was blown away, listening on a sports Walkman! My rock station back then, Q -1043 in NYC, before they became Classic Rock, played only Lie at the time.

Good music is bad music plus time. When Awake came out, it was widely hated. Metalheads hated the sweeping changes that alt metal was bringing to the music world. They especially hated Pantera’s shift away from traditional metal. Dream Theater was trying to adapt to new styles, especially the “groove metal” sound that everyone was copying. But now no one cares about alt rock/metal stepping on purists’ toes and even metalheads enjoy Alice In Chains and Slipknot.

The Kevin Moore keyboardet Dream Theater was so much better and more tolerable then when Jordan Rudess joined in 1999 and then on.... Even on these two amazing 7-string monster-sluggers he's stealing focus and spotlight when he has no fucking right to do so. These 2 song are all about John Petrucci exploring the 7-string guitar.... but oh no let the keyboard player prance around and be WAY to loud in the mix. Awake is by far their best album and it's not gonna change.
