The VA is to contract out all VA Compensation and Pension (C&P) Examinations. Is this a good thing or bad? My thoughts in the video!

I won ALL my cases thanks to outside C&P exams after 8 years fighting the VA and seeing VA doctors for C&P exams give me zero compensation!!!!! I'm so glad and greatful the contracted C&P exams are now available. I'm now rated at 90%.

I totally agree with the decision. In my opinion the VA has been messing up these exams for decades. The VA examiners I have encountered have been short, dismissive and arrogant maybe because they see so many vets they’re a little jaded...I dunno. Also, it seemed to me their mission was to do EVERYTHING possible to minimize and discredit claims. By far the best exams I have had have been with contractors. Unlike the VA they have actually listened and shown genuine concern. Bottom line, the VA has had their chance to provide quality c&p exams to veterans and have failed miserably on several occasions so I think this change is well past due.

I had that happen to me. I went to a contractor and I got 20% for my knee. Then I went to the VA and had an exam from a VA examiner and he took it away, all 20%! So now I have a bad knee and 0%. Doesn’t make sense to me.

Yessss, any information to help us to work our way through the system! Please continue your videos. One particular help I need is how to get my Allergy treatment under the VA., because this is not available under the VA umbrella.

Are your allergy treatments through the VA directly, or through a community care type referral? If it is directly through the VA, you will can view the records in your Blue Button Report.

Personally I've seen the VA turn around a claim quite quickly once the information has been received from the contracted examiner. But as so many people have mentioned below, it's getting that examiner to submit the results in a timely manner, which as you know veterans have no control over. I'm glad the contracted C&P exams are available mainly because my VA Regional Center where C&P exams are conducted is located 5 1/2 hours away (one way), and usually the contractor for exams can get me seen/reviewed within 50 miles or less.

go to your local veterans affairs office in your city or town and ask for a copy. thats what I did while I was working my claim,and I got my copies everytime

I agree with your opinion, about the speed of the process. I got my C&P exams, really fast. However, the VA is still waiting for one of the clinics that I visited, to send in the results. And, last I checked, it's been well over a month, since I had my exam. In fact; my exam was on August 29th. And, their still waiting for that clinic to send in my exam results. When a rep for QTC told me this, he stated that they may have to schedule me another C&P exam, if they don't receive those results. I am still waiting to hear from QTC.

Thank you for the advice. This C&P is the second time for the same three issues; two of which have been granted and one remanded by the BVA. I have a copy of the first C&P which is woefully incomplete albeit the DBQ’s over a year ago were three times in length compared to current ones today. I will make notes as you suggest. A statement has been offered with additional evidence on the remand.

When I spoke about putting in a claim I misunderstood the process. I wanted to speak treatment before actually putting in a claim. Now I have a C&P with little evidence.

You can always appeal! You have 1 year from the decision to gather your evidence and treatment records and submit a Supplemental Claim; if you submit within that 1 year mark and you win, you will still receive back-pay to the original intent to file date when you initially started your claim. Thanks to this video, I looked up the reviews for the doctor scheduled to do my C&P exam and all his reviews were very bad. The reviews were the lowest possible: 1 out of 5, and two specifically were about his rotten performance on C&P exams. He had even written an outright lie about one veteran. So I was able to reschedule through the VA with someone else. I don’t know if it’s going to be any better because there are no recent reviews on the new doctor chosen for me, but there’s a limit on how many times you can reschedule. I can only hope that the lack of reviews is because there aren’t any complaints, but I will have to wait and see.

@@TheVeteranCoach, I think you were right because the examiner who ultimately did my C&P exam was astonishingly compassionate and thorough. I received a favorable decision from the board in just two weeks from the day of the exam. I was amazed to receive a 100% rating so quickly. Thank you again for wise guidance.

I had a c&p on June 2022, MH. They flat out lied. Yes I received their dbq and opinion notes. I was floored. Yup luckily I recorded it but my phone always records via video links.

I should have clarified; not as evidence, but to insure the examiner asks “all” the questions relating to the claim whether a first time exam, remand or directive after a grant for service connection.

What I highly suggest is to have notes with you so that when the examiner asks different questions, you are prepared with your examples and how you are personally dealing with those issues. That way you don't forget to say something important. You can always bring a copy of notes for yourself as well as for the examiner. If you write a strong personal statement, that also helps the examiner know where to lead the appointment, so I always suggest to write and submit a personal statement with every claim.

@@TheVeteranCoach I filed 19 claims on 14 June, 2022, got a call from QTC on the 16th, and a certified package (today) on the 17th with the QTC info and DBQ's. I just pray that everything else moves this fast after my C&P exam results.

I had an exam by a Dr that should have retired 20 years ago and this guy fell asleep while he was asking me questions and asked me the same question 3 times he was napping during my answers…. Then when I called him out he became agitated and and said that the exam was finished …. Then he is trying to lower my rating.

I am 100% total and permanent and in June Qtc contacted me that va wanted me to have a c&p exam with them Why. I have not requested an increase just out of the blue can you shed some light on why. Thanks

If you are indeed 100% permanent and total, they should not be requesting any C&P exams. You can call the White House Hotline and explain your situation. They may be able to remove the request for the evaluation on your behalf. 1-855-948-2311

Should you fill out the DBQ and take it with you to the C&P exam with the contractor?

The C&P examiner will fill out the DBQ during the examination so you dont have to bring one unless you have one filled out from a private doctor.

Hopefully contracting out C&P exams will be an improvement. Several years ago, I was examined by two local VA employees that I had previously seen as clerk assistants working in reception. Perhaps management felt that working in tandem would bolster each other and would make up for their lack of qualifications. Obviously, they were in training. What may have been hilarious was that they kept asking each other how to spell certain words. Hilarious only if their ineptitude hadn't been detrimental to me. Needless to say, I was denied.

I think it’s going to be better in person because so much body language is hidden in a virtual session. I have switched my appointment from virtual to in person because of this.

In most cases the VA Examiner is not qualified to render an opinion on service related. A veteran I know had his claimed denied for back injury because his exam was done by a Nurse Practitioner whose background is Adult Care. She has no knowledge of the complex issue of back injuries. She opined the veterans back injury from service is not related to veterans current back injury. She doesn't have the qualifications to make such an opinion.

You can always leave a review about your experience. Those help your fellow veterans tremendously! If you had a negative outcome and a negative examination, that could be grounds for an appeal and a new C&P.

yes, they will likely always utilize contracted medical companies for C&P exams, but some are starting to be done at the VA directly again. 8/2021

So does the VA use the reports from LHI to make a determination? Or do I still have to go to the VA for another exam? I was just told that LHI is basically an interview to see if I’m eligible to see the VA for an exam. It’s confusing.

LHI should be the C&P examination, it will determine your VA benefits. Are you already scheduled?

Yes this isn’t fair! By all means necessary you shouldn’t have to wit your way towards compensation and the money they expect us to live off of after the military experience isn’t nearly enough! And we are a 1% populous as well as athletes! They are getting enough!

Unfortunately, many are regionally based/assigned, and unavoidable at times. There are three main contracting companies and it is Russian roulette at times.
