@@BongieBalaleverkusen is a big team, they have had european history and if you have never been to leverkusen then you would assume its a crappy club but its huge. The stadium is big, the atmosphere is great, xabi lived in germany before so he knows the culture. Spain is only a 1 and a half hour plane ride from Germany so he could go home whenever he wants to. If you have no idea about a life outside of your own city I highly recommend you to travel more.

I’m surprise that people think Xavi Alonso (at this point in his career) is a good fit for Madrid. I think he is quite the opposite. Madrid has never been a team that builds its success on a long term sporting project, a game philosophy or even a football style. They base their success on signing TOP players (nowadays at the minimum possible cost, since they cannot compete financially against state clubs) and putting them on the pitch. Which is why coaches like Zidane or Ancelotti, whom are not the greatest master minds in football, neither known for being project builders, or identified with a specific football style, actually do great at Madrid. It is because they know how to handle such amount of ego and talent. And of course they know football and tactics. I’m not sayin Alonso, can’t be that, but in essence he is project builder who has a game philosophy and plays a specific style that requires time. That doesn’t sound Madrid material to me.
