Why would United pay 60m for De Ligt, who has not been starting games in the last three years? In both Juve and Bayern, he was just a sub. Mind you, Eric Dier started over De Ligt in Bayern. He was the 4th CB. His injury record in the last 4 years was horrendous, too. He is not living up to his expectation, and has had mistakes in him. That's why he wasn't even starting for the Netherlands. 35m is OK, 60m for De Ligt is mental!

Doubtful cos he could still have gone to Madrid if he wanted to. He obviously decided he feels like we are a better option for him right now. And he's only 18 so will still have tons of drive to succeed. And if he does ever want a move to Madrid he will have to show he is worth it. Only thing that might be a problem is he only comes for one contract to get game time and at the end of he's awesome he will leave for free and go to Madrid for the best part of his career

This has just increased United’s power tenfold in the negotiations for de Ligt and Branthwaite…we have a cb and now if Bayern/Everton doesn’t act reasonably, we have no pressure to buy another and can walk away…I have a feeling Bayern being more professional will recognize this and quickly agree to a deal….

I really hope we can get de ligt as well otherwise I can see Yoro having the same problem as Hojlund in terms of work load and other than Martinez he’s the only one that can play a high line and with us letting go of varane I almost see ourselves back at square one but with an exciting prospect that can go on to be one of the worlds best defenders. We do still need a de Ligt because Yoro isn’t playing 38 games next season he will be in and out of the team,he’s 18 and looks good but he did get the run around a few times by more experienced strikers last season so we can’t just throw him in the starting lineup and be like you play every game because that’s how you destroy players but slowly getting him into the team he will become class in years to come

The most exciting thing to me is the structure INEOS has bought. If they just bought players with no full structure, I would expect that in the first season and think it’s just the honeymoon period to keep us sweet, but the structure is there to at least have consistently competent transfer windows to constantly build on an upwards trajectory. With the development of facilities and the coaching etc everything is in place to get back to the top competing again. Glazers clearly had no clue about running a football club and I win they had sold way earlier or at least dome this sooner.

Branthwaite is left footed and english which is a bonus. Signing another right footed CB like de ligt is not ideal but De Ligt actually wants to play for us, is more experienced and cheaper -> the choice is easy if you ask me who to choose

I am glad the likes of Pedri, Foden, Gavi, Yamal, Musialla, Mbabpe and our own Garnacho, Mainoo and others have shined brightly for people to realize the age old quote but the way we are handling Amad and Pellistri or even Dan Gore, I think they would have been superstars by now had they been given some real chance. Pellistri and Amad were both brought in as such super prospects but we loaned them or bench them to insanity and now all we have are players people hope for.

Get Ugarte next, Kadioglu RB, M.Gutierrez LB, Amravati as back up, then De ligt and Hancko CB. We are good to go. Maybe a surprise attacking player comes in near the end if we do good business with sales.

Veran replaced with Yoro, half his age. High price, high wages too.....Seems a gamble......Ten Hag has a terrible track record with transfers? Another 38 game season of boring slow football from United is not what Ten Haag and his coaches should be satisfied with. Hopefully we will see United develop quickly some of the attacking prowess we were used to seeing when Van Nistelrooy played. United still need to bring in at least one 20+ PL goals a season striker!
