This podcast is exactly why some people just shouldn't make a podcast. The exact epidemy. 1.) Even entertaining Scrap getting dropped due to 2 losses is wild. I get the intent is to entertain, but at least keep it above a kindergarten level. Just awkwardly forcing a convo that is far away from needing to be mentioned. Desperately filling dead space with braindead topics. 2.) Yes a superstar can be defined by multiple attributes, but obviously the entire origin of the debate is about superstar TALENT. Throwing in infinite variables get's you nowhere. Just an hour of conversation saying the same exact thing. 3.) This stocksmen dude is single handedly causing this trainwreck of a podcast. Rab and Trei are respectable personalities in the scene and actually contribute to the community. Then you got this stocksmen kid talking about people needing to be attractive to gain popularity? What am I listening to??? Along with many other baseless and desperate attempts at expanding on conversation, this guy is simply on the outside looking in. Dude needs to tighten up. Hydra to me has the most impresive chip! He won one without another top 10 player on his team. While Faze in cold war was a three headed monster. They need to just run 2k double elim tournaments every weekend. Average out each teams placement over those tourneys and that will be their seed leading into the major. Or your last placement in the 2k before the major is your seed. That’s basically what challengers does.

Y’all can cook me if I am wrong but things to take in to account when discussing these “superstars” is overall team performance, team/player recognizability so when you think of those teams because the teams performing the best are going to have the most talented and recognizable players. Now from that pool of players let’s take this in to account, understanding that consistency needs to be taken in to account to an extent. I’m going to use ShotZzy as an example for where I’m going. Let’s take ShotzZy at his absolute best, the way he plays the game and what he does in any given series. We can say, especially now, we have seen it live ShotzZy at his best is far and away better than any SMG playing the game. The skill gap there right now isn’t close. Pred, Simp, Abezy and Hydra are all great and in the same ball park. If these other players are in the same ballpark they are superstars. Same goes for say Dashy, we have seen it time and time again. Bruce at his absolute best is the best AR in the game it’s been undeniable for years. Superstar. Scrap and Cellium are also in the same ballpark as Dashy at his best. All of their bests are close. They are Superstars.

If you’re not in the competitive CoD scene, the names you are most likely to know are Shotzzy, Pred, Simp, and Scrap (active players only). In the same way that those who don’t follow basketball still know Curry, Lebron, Luka, Jokic, Giannis, etc and those who don’t follow soccer know Ronaldo, Messi, Mbappe, etc.. I think those who are in the scene agree that players like Hydra and Abezy are easily skilled enough to be superstars, but their pervasiveness outside of the scene is a tier below the four names I mentioned. Last year Hydra was absolutely a superstar, but his performance so far this year has not been outstanding enough to make up for his lesser notoriety outside of competitive CoD. Conversely, Shotzzy is likely even a tier above Scrap, Pred, and maybe Simp in terms of popularity. I think this, along with his unique play style, makes up for his inconsistent performances with regards to his superstar status. When Shotzzy is able to play as he is currently, his title as a superstar is undeniable.

Comparing this to physical sports is crazy. If we had to actually have a sub for every player like physical sports we’d be at 96. There are 556 players in the nba. 5 times the cdl. They have subs for the subs sub. Challengers is kind of the pseudo back line for the cdl. So they must be included if we are taking percentages

If you look at a conversation about Doctors, who are an elite subset of humans, the amount that graduate is random. They are all still doctors. Doesn't matter if it is 10 or 1,000, they all still get the title. Other people's skill isn't suddenly diminished because the league got smaller. 16 people being the most skilled wouldn't change if we have 12 teams or 300 teams. @@TheStocksmen That isn't my point. If there was 20 people who all were the same skill level then saying a random percentage doesn't matter. Having a small league doesn't change the skill of players. Faze is still better than the bottom 8. Optic is still better than the bottom 8. New York is still better than the bottom 8. Ultra is still better than the bottom 8. Those 16 players show this by winning most matches against the bottom teams. If there was 30,000 players and they beat all the rest of the other teams again and again it would be a smaller percentage than his random 10%. It is a stupid metric. Just look at who is better.

Agreed, the only sports comparison is like a 5 game playoff baseball series. Optic lost game one by a few runs, won game 2 with nearly a no hitter, won game 3 with a legitimate no hitter, lost game 4 by 1-2 runs, and won game 5 with a blowout. If any baseball (or any sports series) went in this fashion it would be written in history as a SMASHING. I get it's online and not the end all be all but the wins in the 2-3-5 need to be talked about more

He is also just pulling new arguments and new “facts” or “stats” but only pulls out things or arguments that back his stance but then doesn’t want to hear out arguments that go against his stance. “The numbers that matter” he says he is literally using arguments that only side with him but continently refuses to listen when it doesn’t……Now I see that he’s never wrong…..

I honestly cannot believe how much Ace uses shit outside the game to determine if someone’s a superstar. Like someone’s subs and popularity outside the game ?? Some people just show up to their job and absolutely fry. It should be strictly gameplay. And with that there’s about 7 superstars in the league. Simp Cell Abezy Pred Shotzzy Scrap Hydra. That’s 15% of the league, not crazy at all.

Challengers is not OUT THE LEAGUE. It is the league. Same as every other sport….. curry played college, manning played college, pat mahomes played college, The format being consolidated does not reduce the superstar percentage. Superstars are found in the lower tiers. guess where pred, hydra, scrap, sib, simp, abeezy and cleanX came from???? THE AMATEURS! (Top of ranked=am league)

This was a take that they brought up on the show as well. Should we count Challengers as the "bench" players. So add another 100 or so players to the mix. 20% of 48 players (CDL starters ) vs 5% to 10% of 148 total (CDL starters + top Challengers) Appreciate the comment
