1. Check your work, errors are bad (focus on attention to detail) 2. Be reliable and meet deadlines 3. Go the extra mile and add value outside of your job scope (be proactive) 4. Be proactive about your next career move & track your successes

This is very accurate. I manage a team of acquisitions analysts and #s 1 and 2 are critical for success. Detail-orientation may not come naturally (it didn't for me) but practice, practice, practice and you'll make it! It may not be easy, but it will make a big difference if you're in private equity or brokerage long-term.

Hi there I have a question, How do we calculate IRR for different investors for a given real estate project? For further clarity, there is one project with multiple investors. So how do we calculate individual investor IRR?

4 months working as a full time analyst for a Real Estate Private Equity (we are LPs). I have previous experience (internships) related to this role but I would like to transition to the GP side. Any recommendations?

Dig into the different business plans of your operating partners and try to think like a GP on deals you work on. These partners could very likely turn into future employers down the road, and work you do alongside them right now can also act as a prolonged "tryout" and a great opportunity to showcase your skill set and thought process. Good luck!

Your videos have been helping me a lot trying to find my right path in CRE. I am standing between to job offers right now, real estate analyst at Altus and portfolio analyst at Mark Taylor. My end goal is to be a multifamily developer/investor but I’m torn on which of these jobs I should accept. Do you have any advice on which you think will provide me with the most experience and networking possibilities?
